You made a mistake. You said Phelps was defending his 200 Metres Freestyle from Athens. He won bronze in Athens. I think you were supposed to say that for the 200 Butterfly.

He wasn’t defending his 200m freestyle from Athens, he was the bronze medalist behind Thorpe and Van den Hoogenband.

TBH not only his coach but the nature also trained him for swimming... Just look at his physique... He has every cut and turn on his body that a swimmer needs... Fish like body Large sized feet Huge and wider arms.....

I Read The News At School And Don't Have Any Ideas How Great That Was Until I Reach 14 When I Read A Lots Of Books And Sources About The Sports World In The Past 100 Years When Nadia Comaneci Hit The Perfect10 Score, Mark Spitz Won 7 Gold In The 1972 OG, Carl Lewis The King Of Track, Indonesian Badminton Team In The 80's 90's, Etc Until Then I Didn't Understand Any Of This Sport History ... Thanks To The OG 2008 Beijing ... Phelps Messi And Bolt Is The New Generation Hero And History Maker Of Sport World And I'm So Thankful Living In Their Generation A Story That We Can Tell And Pass On To Our Grandkids 💕

Outstanding athletes with an amazing amount of olympic medals. Although they are variations in the same discipline. Imo , what impresses the most , is if an athlete win medals 3,4 or 5 olympic games in a row , not the amount of medals. It’s easier to win more medals in swimming , track , shooting & gymnastics than in boxing , high jump , wrestling or triathlon.
