I just purchased an OM-System kit for travel and wildlife photography, and I'm going to go through all the items:
OM System OM-1 body
Olympus 8-25mm f/4 PRO lens
Olympus 12-45mm f/4 PRO lens
Olympus 40-150mm f/4 PRO lens
Olympus 100-400mm f/5.0-6.3 lens
Be sure to check out The Image Doctors Podcast this week where we'll be discussing my rationale for getting this kit, and the pros and cons of the OM System micro 4/3rds gear.

You're going to love that system. I have the E-M1X and Pen-F, and a truckload of Olympus and Pansonic lenses -- it's a great system. I did a headshot this morning using the Panasonic 35-100mm f/2.8 on my E-M1X -- my subject was blown away by the sharp detail. Have fun!

Have fun with the new gear: I love my 8-25 and 40-150 F4 lenses.. Thinking of completing the F4 collection with the 12-45 even though it would be redundant to my 12-40 F2.8. I also recommend the fabulously useful 12-100 F4 IS. Saving up now for the jump to an OM-1 from my E-M1-Mk2.

The 12-45 makes for a tiny all-purpose walkabout kit!

Very nice video. I jumped from a Canon with a bunch of Canon L glass to Olympus in 2016 because for my travel photography and landscape photography where I liked to walk a two or three miles away from the car, it was just too heavy and bulky. Lately I have been doing more bird photography especially birds in flight at dawn and sunset where I have to bump the ISO up to 2000 or 3000 or 4000 to keep the shutter speeds high enough. Would love to hear more about how you integrate noise reduction into your OM workflow with noise from high ISO shots.

Hi Bruce! I'll give you the short answer: You can use as high as ISO 12,800 on the OM-1 when you run the raw files through DXP Pure Raw 3. It's amazing. facebook.com/jpodellphoto/posts/pfbid037hwKzajPi37oWQodmUEJkekpiYkMYXyS1w6nh44Yq3JjrjB8tgAkWsfAM9goWXCel

Can't believe they don't provide you with a wall adapter for the battery to charge out of camera!!

TBH I have used my dual charger maybe once. When I travel, I just connect the USB-C charging cable to my camera and it's one fewer item to pack!

Sure is! And I've managed to configure the OM-1 buttons and dials to be pretty close to what I'm used to with my Nikon cameras, which helps lower the learning curve.

You'll notice that the OM-1 body does not come with a battery charger. When I bought my OM-1, I decided not to buy the charger (it's huge!), and instead I invested in a HLD-10 Power Battery Holder, i.e. a grip, and a spare battery. With the grip on, you can charge two batteries at once via the USB cable, and when you go out for a shoot, you can take the grip with you, or leave it at home if you want to travel light. The OM Systems documentation states that the batteries charge equally fast whether you charge them in the camera or in the dedicated battery charger. So far, I haven't regretted this choice, and I haven't missed having a dedicated battery charger.

I'm strongly considering the HLD-10 for when I use the 100-400 lens!

@@JasonOdellPhoto The HLD-10 definitely helps when you are using a long lens like the 100-400mm. Better balance and vertical controls. Plus it's more likely you will use sequential shooting when you have a long lens attached, so it's helpful to have twice the battery capacity.

@@ColinOatley If I start with a fully charged battery, have not found a need (yet) for a battery grip with my OM1 plus MC-14 plus Olympus 300mm f/4 for balance or for battery capacity for birds in flight or perched birds. I like to keep the weight down so I can move around more freely.
