The faux patina, and brown dial and bezel, is why I got the watch. The warmer tones are what did it for me. I didn't want yet another white or rose gold watch. I'm no horologist nor collector. The 007 is secondary, the color palette is entirely what drew me in.

I ended up buying another watch but this was and will likely stay on my list because of the warmer tones as well. I fit in the same category of not being a horologist.

I respectfully disagree on the "faux patina of the lume" it looks more camouflage to me and compliments the none flashy look. I think the watch designers were going for a low vis tactical look more so than the vintage look.

One thing I always find off-putting is when something becomes collectible or popular due to it's association with a particular film, then the manufacturer starts cashing in by creating "collector's editions" and jacking up the prices. I own a Seamaster 2531.80. I like that the watch is associated with Bond but the best thing for me is that it doesn't say 007 or have any references to James Bond on any part of the watch. I think the Spectre is gorgeous and very tastefully done but slapping 007 on the watches and making it obvious they are "Bond Watches" comes off as a bit hokey to me. It's akin to stamping "Alien" or "Ripley" on the Giugiaro
@j.burgess4459
@j.burgess4459 4 жыл бұрын
Agreed - it would have been much better if they had left off the OO7 from the case back (and even more so the phoney military stores reference numbers.) It would have still been the 'watch from the film' just by virtue of being on Daniel Craig's wrist and being visible in some shots. Let's face it, the 5513 Rolex Sub will always be known (among other things) as the watch from "Live and Let Die" and "The Man with the Golden Gun" - even though there are no 'James Bond-ish' markings on the watches.

Yeah it completely ruins it, to me its enough knowing im wearing the same watch as james bond it doesn’t have to hammer it in like “look a 007 on the watch to let you know im a bond watch”

"Easy smiles and expensive watches" is such a good movie line. It is descriptive of a certain style and sensibility that is often what draws so many of us in to the hobby. We can get the watch, but, as we all learn and hopefully later appreciate, true grace under pressure can never be purchased. Loved the review. Thanks, brother. --Michael

I feel the same way about this as I do most of the 007 pieces with the barrel twist dial, 007 dial print or second hand, etc., if you're into it it's fun, if your not, like me, they're all a bit kitschy for the price, but they're nice pieces and I dont blame someone for getting one. So to me, it's the next iteration of same, nice but trendy. And yes I like the 007 movies.

I think they got the look spot on, it blends a modern look with a vintage military look very well, let’s not forget it will never be a genuine military issued watch so some form over function can be forgiven? the overall design is very clever seeing as military watches are very much in vogue at the moment. A brand new, military look with broad arrow omega seamaster!! What’s not to like.... thumbs up from me. Just need to find the £8000 to buy one. Excellent review as always TGV, looking forward to the next one 👍

Great highly documented and masterfully edited video. Even though these were the exceptions rather than the rule, there were large diving wristwatches at the time such as the Memovox Polaris (42mm) and the Panerai… I believe there might have been others. I have no problem with the rather unique and peculiar colour scheme adopted for this Omega, it’s pretty. The watch is light, mat all over and extremely well finished. I have just collected mine, it’s awesome, it sure leads to an easy grin

Love the watch but hate the price. Honestly I cannot justify spending extra on this one than, for example, blue Master Chronometer SMP 2018. Same as I couldn't spend extra on Spectre in comparison with Regular Seamaster 300. Somehow I don't like they've militarised this dressy diver. Planet Ocean / Seamaster 300 hands would suit it better - again IMHO :=) Top review, as usual TGV! Glad you still make us happy with your videos!

i love everything minus the fact that the case is a little bland due to the even finish. i wish it had more chamfers or something even if it didnt have a polish on it. given it is a 300 im dreaming but something a little bit more striking would of been nice. i also personally love the patina color and overall feel of the watch. id pick one up if it was a bit cheaper but lets see what the second hand market holds in the future. thanks for the video!

If they are going to retain the scallop designed bevel, they should incorporate a texturing element, even just a slight one, to make it easier to use. I think a thin rib of coin-edging just below the scallops would work (my 2 cents, for what it's worth).

I followed all of TGV's criticisms of this watch in the video, but I recently handled it in the metal and I was rather impressed. It is stunning, actually, standing out from most of the other Seamasters next to it. Rather than looking faux, I think the choice of color gives the watch a smart, understated appearance, while the body provides the ample presence.

So light it almost feels cheap. My every day piece is a Sjøø Sandstrøm UTC Skydiver, that I love, but I might have to replace that one now. The only change I would make is that I would like that you could see the the clockwork through the back.

Looks similar to your '58, with no numerals and a Champaign dial. Recently had it serviced, and between the cleaning and a new crystal, looks stunning! I see this finish as stealth, with the hands and indices blending with the dull titanium and flat off-black dial and bezel. White would glare and detract from the overall look. Faux patina is something I loathe but didn't enter my mind until you mentioned it. The deal killer for me is the scalloped bezel. I fought with one of those on a GMT diver years ago and hated it.

When the first pictures surfaced of the watch, I knew I needed it. When I saw it in the window at the jewelers my heart jumped. When I tried it on that was it. The titanium bracelet is a work of art. This is by far the comfiest watch I’ve worn, and the best looking seamaster ever done.. that’s the reality. Omega’s movement is a work of art. Fits my 7.5inch wrist perfect

Was waiting for this! I’ve always loved the sea master and speedmaster. This model feels like a nice balance between the two for me, I love the colours but prefer the shape of the sea master. Great video!

Love that titanium. Love the size. Hate the lack of date. Me personally, and I imagine an international spy, would find a date at 6 o’clock to be quite practical.

I hope the next Bond wears a "vintage" Seamaster from the '90s. Perhaps a titanium chrono. Or if Rolex finally returns, a vintage or reissue of the big crown would be in ideal order. I really like this Seamaster, even with the faux patina and I think it will be highly sought after in time.

25:07. $160 for a beige polyester strap?!?!? That's a $158 profit! I hope that comes with free shipping... Detest the faux patina. Love the lumed bezel.

Seems to be a good quality but agree - hoping some aftermarket options come out with hardware that matches (doubt it will be titanium). I think the Milanese is the way to proceed and later circle back on the NATO or worthy substitute.

The use of broad arrow is interesting and I can understand why the reaction to it is mixed. I suppose it helps make the character & movie more believable. If it were actually issued to MI6 it would have the broad arrow symbol. Putting it on a strictly Bond Seamaster kind of makes sense as long as we don't find out it's Bond's personal watch in the movie.

Another work of art sir. I wish I could afford this watch. Even though I consider my collection to be very dark and want something with a bit more colour next, I do love this watch. I own a chronograph, so I think this is little overpriced. I thought that this video was not just an excellent review, but a fitting tribute to Omega and I'm going to share it on the James Bond fan group 👍🏻🙂

Hi TGV Would never say that it’s not a cool watch, it most certainly is. I was never much of a titanium watch guy and even lesser a fan of faux patina. But unlike several commentators here I find the combination here spot on. I really understand Omegas choice of combining the matted case with the rather over the top kind of faux patina - together it makes the watch look really rough & tactical. So much for Omegas intentions...would it be something for me? Nah, I’m a more old fashioned kind of a Seamaster 300 man. If it wasn’t for the fantastic movement in this one I wouldn’t even consider changing it with my own 1999 model. It will be interesting to see how this new model holds its value in the future. I think that it is an acquired taste, and not just for me I’m sure... I much prefer it on that beautiful Milanese bracelet by the way. Keep up the good work👍

Personally, I wouldn't buy a watch with a movie reference printed on dial or case back. This one is not that blatant but some of the other 007 Seamasters are. I also prefer the polished case on the regular Seamaster! Great video though!! Cheers my friend!

I like this watch a lot! I like the colors used in the dial and lume, etc. I feel that the color of the indices is more of an attempt at a cohesive over all color combination than it is about appearing to be old and "forced faux patina". It's a great look and the absence of the date window is just huge to me. I"m never a fan of a date window, it's just a complication that I don't need. This watch is kind of expensive though and I'm not sure I would plop down that much money for this watch....but maybe. I'll stay away from the AD's so I can avoid such a scenario. Oh and I'm super glad to see that 007 is not splattered about the watch face.

I wish more Seamaster s had no date windows. There's a few but not alot. The one's with date complications surpass the ones without. I have no use of a calendar either and not to mention date complications watches are easier to damage with the danger zone and all that

So, with the 300m and the bezel...apply pressure to opposite sides equally (roughly) and the adjustment is smooth. I believe this is to negate any possible bumps or nudges when diving. Try it ...works like a charm. Still not subby smooth but there’s a reason for that...true tool watch. Tools require skill to use effectively.
