Had mine (same model as yours) since 2008. Been an absolute joy to own. When I wear it I often have to check the time twice because the first glance is usually to admire the aesthetic before I realise 'shit I forgot to check the time' lol

I've owned my PO2500C XL with white numerals and back bezel since 2005. I was wearing it when I saw Casino Royale at the cinema, my favorite Bond movie ever. I didn't expect Daniel Craig to wear the exact same watch. Then Jeremy Clarkson came in. Felt like my choice was being validated by celebrities. It was kind of cool. I also liked the Michael Phelps endorsment back then. I took it for an overhaul after 11 years, the watch was still accurate and working fine (-3 s/d, used to be +1.5 s/d) but I didn't want to risk it. Cost me 410 euros at the official service centre. With 2 years warranty and good for another 10 years. Since Dec 2016 it's running between 0.5 and 1.5 s/d, amazing. Only beaten by my Rolex YM 116622 and SD43, although not by much. It's the sexiest toolwatch Omega ever made IMHO. Only cost me 1,550 pounds at the Omega boutique in London back in 2005, with a croc strap and deployment clasp thrown in for free on top of the bracelet. Strongest lume in my collection and highest legibility. The piece is hard to beat as a whole package. Perhaps a future classic.

I definitely agree with your assessment of the PO 2500, I have the 42mm black dial/black bezel with white numerals on bracelet and there is a certain charm and more toolish look to this model that the newer versions just don't have, I know the new model PO's have upgrades and are great high quality diver's but I do prefer the overall look of the 2500 with the slightly thinner case, beautifully engraved caseback, matte black dial, more elegant broad arrow hands and for me I do actually prefer the white printed numerals with the old school open 6 and 9 font, the newer versions with polished numerals tend to disappear at certain angles, I always thought they should have made them lume filled instead to preserve the original look but these are just the things I prefer about the 2500, sure I guess I'm being biased but it's definitely a watch that will stay in my possession, there's only ever one original. Great review and info Bear👍

Also, the sapphire in the P.O. increased in thickness from the one on the SMP 300.

I've had the cal 2500 with the orange bezel for 9 years now although mine has a brushed clasp unlike yours with a polished finish (I wonder why). I wore it daily for 6 or 7 years, consistently about +2sec/day which I believe is excellent for a mechanical watch. I still wear it now during weekends as my taste in watches changed a bit over the years and now I find the PO too thick for daily wear. Anything bigger than 40mm nowadays I find too big for my 6.6 - to 6.7 inch wrist and 39mm to 40mm is now my sweet spot for sports watches. One complaint about my PO is that it never came close to the 42 to 48 hour power reserve when fully wound. Had it serviced on year 7 but still the same issue. Other than that, never gave me any problem. Definitely a keeper! Cheers

I was thinking the same thing about the 2500..the hands and overall layout reminds me of true 60's divers. I should have asked you on last night!

Great review. I really love that aesthetic of the 2500. I recently tried on the 8900 at an omega boutique. I liked the fit , even though it was thicker, I did not like the bling-ie shiny factor of it. Considering looking for a 8500 because I really want the brushed ceramic bezel. Any thoughts ? Keep up the great work. Do you have a review on the 8500??

Love my Plant Ocean, but that bracelet is horrible to fit perfectly, either too tight or too loose. I upgraded to the Planet Ocean 8500 bracelet and included the adjustable clasp and it now fits perfectly. I also included the adjustable clasp on my Planet Ocean 8500 ceramic, but I still prefer the 2500. The size is perfect on the 2500

Nice, complete vid. Looks like you’ve got one of the last ones (2011?) 2500D, close to cal. 8500. A workhorse.
