First of all the Seamaster Professional 300m is considered a rival to the Submariner because they are both 300 meter dive luxury watches. The Planet Ocean is 600m and competes favorably with the Rolex Sea Dweller. Your collection is fantastic! Every one of them is magnificent! Congratulations and compliments to your good taste.

I've always liked the Planet Ocean a lot. Certainly a legitimate alternative to a Rolex Sub! The Creamsicle is super cool. Great video, Bear!

My first nice watch was (still is) an Omega Seamaster Professional PO with the older cal 2500. It was so good that for six or seven years, I was pretty much a one watch guy! As I got older, I guess my taste and vibe became older too and my preference aesthetically moved closer to the Rolex look. I still love my PO and wear it on weekends and outdoor activities. Cheers!

The black Planet Ocean with caliber 2500 (42mm) was my second luxury watch. I already had the SMP with the same movement but the PO was so different that I needed to have it. And since this always has been such a great watch line I also fell in love with the chronograph of which I bought the orange version in 2009. Back then there was some variety but by far not as much as today. So with these two watches I basically covered every size and color the Planet Ocean line had to offer. At that time I was a bit obsessed with Omega and their divers specifically. It felt a bit weird to have a collection of three watches, all of them being Omega divers. So I gave the black PO to my father to make room for something different. All of those watches are still with me, the Chronograph being on my wrist as I write this.

Never tried a submariner but I purchased a Tudor pelagos LHD earlier this year. Wears very comparable to my planet ocean 43.5 blue. Both will be forever keepers

The Planet Ocean wears surprisingly well for its size (43.5) on my 6.75 inch wrist thanks to the articulating end links. It has an amazing movement in the 8900 caliber. Materials are top notch (the dials are gorgeous). Love Omegas designs. Their twisted lugs are more complex and play with light in a beautiful way. The bracelet is super comfortable. I’m also a sucker for a display caseback.... and the movement is nicely finished. I love both Omega and Rolex. I love Omegas designs and modern materials. And I love Rolex’s attention to detail (like the exceptional grip of the crown), and their minimalist and true to heritage design language. Another great vid, Bear. 👌👊👊

Fantastic review from a watch entusiast! Great work. I also find seamaster PO the best luxury tool watch from Omega and possibly on the market and totally agree that 40/41mm sub should be compared with 39,5mm PO and NOT with 42mm SMP.

I just received my PO orange julius 43.5mm today! It’s absolutely gorgeous and sporty and a great companion to my 2007 PO 42 mm non orange :)

I have a couple also, and am also a Rolex collector but have many Omega too - both great watches and we are lucky to have them. I agree about Nato straps except for lovely leather ones for old vintage chrono's that don't have bracelets

That is a very handsome Watch. Saw it in person however, I would like Omega to make three simple changes and I think I would pull the trigger on it. 1. A black Sunburst dial. 2. An orange date. 3. A micro adjustment slide clasp. I do own Rolex’s and I also have one Omega great white. Love them all.

My first serious watch was an Omega Planet Ocean 2500 purchased in 2009. I still have it and it will never be sold. My favourite in my collection. One day I hope to add another Omega either a PO or even a Speedie would be nice. This brings me to this question for you, Bear, Speedmaster or PO of your choice. You can only have one.

Morning Mike. Breakfast time here in Doha. Planet Ocean, in all its iterations, is a beautiful watch - possibly the most 'complete' watch you could own. I have an 8500 cal 45.5mm which is used in regular rotation and gets a lot of love. I tend to feel that Omega is definitely rising in the market and benefitting from the Rolex Effect - you can actually go and spend your money at an Omega dealer!!

You and Michael changed my mind from a Rolex Explorer and/or a Submariner to looking at getting a Planet Ocean Chrono 44.5.

I bought the 50th anniversary MOTM and just bought the Sapphire Sandwich MOTM. I love them both. The Planet Ocean is next.

I agree but with the original pre coaxial version. I believe the 45.5 mm had the perfect dimensions ever for a watch. Then they fed it steroids and I fell off the train. Nice collection! If the PO chronograph came in 43.5 mm tomorrow, day after tomorrow I have one! This is my paradox I love PO but I want a chronograph,45.5 is to big for my wrist, so my lovely wife 2 weeks ago buy me a Seamaster Chronograph in 44 mm .I absolutely loved it from first second! Gain 10 seconds in 11 days, amazing! I love Omega!!

In my opinion the 43.5 mm is better compared to seadweller and personally think it’s a better piece . If I wanted to buy a seadweller today I would have had to pay 3 times more from a grey dealer totally crazy....

Planet Ocean 600M, with the Co‑axial movement, is of course a wonderful wrist watch! I just wish that Omega would produce a somewhat thinner Planet Ocean 300M, also with a Co‑axial Master movement, with something like a diameter of, say, one in 39 mm and another one in 42 mm. Those watches would most likely be very loved among all kind of Omega fans all over the world... :-) God bless you and your family, best Bear Clooney!

I generally agree with you - I have both the PO and a Sub, and both have their advantages. I did, however, make the mistake of getting the 45.5, which is its big drawback and gives a huge advantage in size to the sub.

Great video. The titanium 42mm Planet Ocean IMHO is the sweet spot. It's perfectly.proportioned and only weighs 127 grams so it's not top heavy. Cheers

Nice video. Totally agree, Bear. PO a fantastic watch. For me, just a bit too colourful (like a few Omega sports). I like Boring black, though I do like your orange! I liked the Mark 1 design, but the current model is way superior in movement. The 43mm definitely wears small and very well, just a bit thick. I think the PO will be refined again in the next model - maybe date to 4.30?. The I might pull the trigger and have a more sporty complement to my SD4k. BTW, The bracelet is very good on the PO, as is dial clarity and case finish. Maybe better than Rolex. Yeah, Doxa not in the same league!

The orange ceramic bezel with liquid ceramic/Super-luminova dive scale is absolutely unmatched technically and even as far as the cool-factor. It’s a shame it isn’t used on the grade 5 titanium PO.

About 2 years ago, I purchased the the planet ocean gmt calibre 8906 from the AD. I'm very impressed and happy with it. Will be getting a Aqua terra within the next few months. Omega is a tremendous value for what you buy. I have a Rolex Submariner which is my grail but I think the planet ocean is technically superior. METAS certified, more anti magnetic..

The 39.5 mm, with a GMT complication, blue, and without the pointless helium escape valve; that would be my pick of the bunch, if it existed!

Bear, I subscribed to your channel because of your passionate plea. I tuned in to listen to your thoughts on the Seamaster. Personally I only own one premium luxury watch (Jealous of your collection). It is hard for me to justify dropping more than a grand on a watch. However, my one luxury watch is a Seamaster Planet Ocean Co-axial Chronometer 45.5mm. This particular watch has almost never left my wrist since I purchased it in 2008 and have punished this watch immeasurably. I have never had the watch serviced and the movement is still keeping time within specs.I have a 7 1/2 inch wrist, and it wears just fine. The watch actually looks smaller on the wrist than my 40.5mm Seiko Cocktail Time.

Hi Bear. I just found your channel, and immediately subscribed. I have the Omega Planet Ocean Blue 39.5mm, with the stainless steel bracelet. I purchased it two years ago because I think it is absolutely beautiful. I too have wondered why reviewers compare the Seamaster to the Rolex, since the Planet Ocean is obviously Omega’s analogous watch. I have been trying to find a blue rubber strap for my PO, and am not in love with the Rubber B or the Everest offerings. Please tell me where you found the 19mm rubber strap on your 39.5 PO. It looks to be an Omega strap, but I didn’t see it on the Omega website. Thanks.

Thanks for the vid and sharing your passion. I think its the height (especially vs the Sub) that turns off most people and not so much the diameter. And as a James Cameron (updated version) owner, though the watch is a beast, it is surprisingly well proportioned and wasn't expecting to like it as much as I do.

Great video Bear, i think that's a big problem with people and their opinions on a lot of watches not just the planet ocean, they never try the watch on they never experience the watches first hand, they either follow the heard or they judge just on specs alone. i love Rolex just as much as anyone but some people just blindly dismiss Omega and i wonder if they truly love horology or just love the status and hype.

I’ve got the creamsicle and unfortunately not happy with my experience. Purchased new from an Omega AD, the first time the watch experienced changes in climate it steamed up with condensation. Sent back to Omega who discovered faulty seals. No apology and no rush to replace. If it was me I’d have been mortified!! Anyway, I finally got a new one which I’ve worn a few times. Legibility at dusk and dawn not great, I’m afraid😌 Luckily it’s purely a summer watch for me, however I don’t think I’ll be wearing it as much as my other summer watch which is a two tone Sub with the “Smurf” dial and bezel

I think the PO is an absolutely beautiful watch. The best diver by far from Omega. Better than a Submariner? I don't know. Maybe. They can coexist happily in any collection. Maybe you should compare a the PO with a Sea dweller.

I am subscriber and supporter, keep up the good work and journey to 10k subscribers. I have 6 & 1/3rd to 7 in wrist and even 46mm cleverly designed watches look fine on my wrist. I don’t own a dive watch yet but own other watches. I have been close to buying the PO a few times but something has stopped me. I instead have gone for the 41.5mm AT skyfall which wears much big due to the thin plain bezel. The lug to lug is within my wrist but visually it looks big compared to my Explorer MK2, GS 39mm watches. I do agree with your point that watches can wear smaller than their dimensions. However the PO do have a large wrist presence in the 44mm variant. The 40mm Rolex watches wear much better in this regard. My brother in-law has the older PO with the orange metal bezel in the 42mm I think and it looks fine but quite thick which makes it top heavy and doesn’t sit flat on the wrist. He wears it loose so its even worse but he likes to wear the bracelet lose. PO should definitely try and make it thinner if possible. Then it can really take on the Sub. Its unbeatable from a technology and value for money perspective so I’d be happy to have a PO in my collection some day.

I have more than one planet ocean so I don’t think you’re crazy at all. One of them is the Oreo, the other a deep black. Ceramic or titanium are great options when you go to 45mm. Love that “creamsicle” name for the white dial. If you want lumed bezels, I’d prefer that watch to the no time to die seamaster. The latter is going to be a scratch magnet.

Oh wow! I'm a big guy and I think a 43.5 is a fine size. That orange/black dial combo is amazing. The white dial one is stunning. I am hoping some day to re-add an Omega to my collection as I sold a Seamaster Chrono and some others to finance the Tudor Black Bay Bronze I purchased.

43.5 is fine on my 6 3/4 inch wrist. You have to own it.

All great timepieces from Omega. The alternate polished and brushed finished faceted curves of the watch case already shows better craftsmanship from Omega.
