I traded in an Explorer 36mm for this exact watch a year ago and haven't looked back. In fact, this year, I'm going to get a Speedmaster. I think the SMP300P has everything -- sophisticated both inside and out, elegant but rugged. Even the box is superb, and yeah it's just a box, but getting this gorgeous presentation in zebra wood is so much more luxurious than Rolex's crappy green plastic box. It's just the perfect dive watch for me, and I'll never part with it.

After exhaustive research of dive watches, in my opinion the newest SMP300 is the best value, most bang for the buck dive watch on the market. Anything more expensive (Sub included) offers little to nothing more (often times less) in terms of features, quality, movement tech, finishing, quality, etc. Add in the George Daniels Coax escapement and this thing holds its own with any diver on the market.

Before I hit play I was giggling because I remember your blue dial seamaster. I also had some decisions between the white dial and the black when I bought mine and went black simply because I thought the black would be more versatile. The Rolex sub is a better watch, but you can’t get them. The omega seamaster is value for the money, and a very worthy buy. Congrats

Hi Chris! Subscribed! I am also in Chicago! 2 months ago I purchased the cal 3861 Speedmaster sapphire sandwich on a bracelet. I have the chronoscope clasp on the way. 2 days ago I picked up the Seamaster 300M with the Black dial just like you! Great watches! 👍

Had mine almost two years now (Blue dial). Great watch, wear it everywhere - even to the gym, and while running. runs 2-2.5 spd slow. I know spec on this is 0-5 spd fast, so it's a little weird, but I'm not gonna mess with it. Especially as it's so bulletproof. Didn't know you sold the SD43? Why? I'm still waiting on one...Man, wish I knew you were gonna sell it, I'd have made you an offer!

I have two. Chrome dial with rubber strap . I hate the bracelet in the Seamaster 300M, but I love the watch. I also have the much less popular Titanium/Black Ceramic version. I love it even more. With that being said, if a Rolex is what you are craving for, that is what you need to get. This watch does not deserve to be called an alternative...this watch is a classic on its own.

I do like the SM300M black or the white dial, the white bezel markers that is fully marked adds so much class. Like you I prefer the Speedy on the 1861/1863 bracelet, it just suits the watch better in my humble opinion. I'm OK with the original clasp on mine but there are some who's wrist size fit's between links so it makes sense to change the clasp. Nice one!

Totally agree at the price you cant beat it . Had the chrome and sold it but miss it . Now thinking black possibly blue but will opt for rubber this time . Just couldn’t get on with bracelet found it too clunky and made the watch feel a little heavy for my tastes . On the rubber love it just gives a stealthy, sleek look and brings the weight down considerably which suits me better ..still managing to bag 18 % discount from my AD here in the uk . It may be because ive bought 3 omega from them in the past so they are rewarding loyalty .. Definitely a piece well worth having..

I got my SMP 300m just over 2 years ago, I paid £4200 (retail), and now it's going for £5100,, I'm so glad I got it when I did, 🤗,,, it's my one and only expensive watch, (a retirement gift to myself,,,) It makes me happy every single time I look at it, it loses just under a second a day,, I am a happy bunny.. 🙂

I have the same Speedy and added the adjustable clasp. Absolutely love it. Why oh why has Omega not made this standard yet?

It was super hard deciding either to get the SMP300 or the new Speedy. However, ultimately ended up choosing the Speedy. Omega needs to update the SMP300's bracelet. It is the only thing that's letting this watch down.

I’m about to trade a Rolex DJ41 for this watch and a speedy sapphire sandwich both unworn for a straight up trade at my dealer. I think it’s a crazy good deal. I like the DJ41 but for these two watches? I think it’s a no brainer! I have a Rolex SD43 as well and I love it. But I wear only on weekends typically as you mentioned you can to be careful with it walking around it can be dinged easily if you aren’t always aware of it!

Seeing the beauty of this model really does make it difficult to justify paying twice the amount (at least here in the UK) for the 41mm Sub. Like yourself, I also had the blue dial but weirdly enough didn’t like the turquoise blue it appeared to turn in certain sunlight, so that was sold at the beginning of the pandemic. But oh my, the black is drawing me back to the dark side. They just need to taper the bracelet ever so slightly and reduce the clasp size 🙏

Extremely surprised to hear you sold the beautiful sd43 but totally understand why it is quite big but... as much as I love omega I really don't like the bracelet on that particular one with no taper . Personally I think the sd43 is superior in every way but that's just my opinion. I hope you enjoy it but I think you will move it on as you did the blue dial. But it does make a great daily wearer .👌

I got mine in 2021 at $4k landed (tax, S&H). Black dial, the sleekest of them all, it feels like a race car on my wrist with its light play.

Could you tell me why nobody never talks about the Chrono version despite the fact that Omega is well known for its chronographs (specialty of the house) and for being the official Chronograph of the Olympic games !? And i wanted to ask you also since you made the exact same choice i'm about to make ! I'm interested also in the Sea Dweller 43mm, but i'm hesitating between it and the seamaster of this video ! So which one do you think is the better watch ?

I have the Omega Seamaster 300m two tone Sedna Gold with black dial on rubber strap. Absolutely love it and think it’s quite a sleeper pick most don’t know about. In my heart I want the Rose Gold Rolex Yachtmaster on Oysterflex, but the Seamaster is such a great watch for the money and you don’t look like a total @$$hole. By the end of each day, I probably spend a few minutes or so just getting lost looking in the dial. The ceramic dial changes and looks different in every different lighting situation. Although I think my version is the best, any color variation will make you very happy.

Nice selection however i still prefer the 40mm Omega Semi-Vintage Seamaster Wave Dial......Omega really respect their Supporter.........Value for money
