Something interesting is the lyrics tie-in with "Bring Me To Life". In that video she is dreaming when she starts to fall and he grabs her hand to save her. In this video she says "Don't want your hand this time, I'll save myself. Maybe I'll wake up for once."

She was engaged to Seether frontman Shaun Morgan at the time. Apparently his substance use issues led to a breakup. Sad & ironic that the song is called Broken. But it is an amazing ballad, and her vocals are on full display.

Yes, Amy Lee writes all the songs... Evanescence started w/ guitarist Ben Moody writing the music, but he quit the band around 2004 after the 'Fallen' album... Guitarist Terry Balsamo co-wrote the music for the next 2 Evanescence records. The new album 'The bitter truth' is credited to Lee and the other members collectively collaborating... Most female-fronted rock/metal bands write their own music & lyrics - Lacuna Coil, Evanescence, Within Temptation, Arch Enemy, Nightwish, Epica, Guano Apes, Vixen, etc... Heart went thru a period between 1984 and 1990 when they had outside songwriters deliver songs for their records, but they wrote their own material before and after that.

Amy Lee was dating another rock musician that was struggling with a really bad drug addiction. Amy was by his side to help him get sober and in doing so she was losing herself and who she was. Eventually she had to save herself and end the relationship. She also wrote 'call me when your sober' right after she ended the relationship. Singer songwriters are so awesome because they are singing about events that really occurred in their life and not just purchasing songs from writers. I just about listen to only singer/songwriters exclusively because they have that extra depth in their singing to no one else can recreate. Huge Evanescence fan@

Absolutely LOVE Evanescence!!!!! ❤️❤️ She was my go to in High School and got through it with her. She was one of the first CDs I bought. Other good songs are Call me when you’re Sober, Everybody’s Fool, tourniquet, my immortal, taking Over Me. Love those songs and much more so many great ones out there. You really, really need to do “Break In” with Halestorm featuring Amy Lee. It’s a beautiful duet with Lzzy Hale & Amy Lee- both powerful women singers who just kill it in the video- which was shot in one take, I might add. 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

I had the absolute pleasure to see Evanescence in concert when they toured with Lindsey Stirling (who you need to react to soon!). It was an unique tour as they played stripped down with an orchestra backing them. It was so amazing and special. They are a band that I will 100% see every time they tour (except this last time with Halestorm b/c of the pandemic). Call Me When You’re Sober, What You Want, Tourniquet and Use My Voice are just a few out of their catalog you should check out. Thank you for sharing your musical journey with us all! ❤️🎶❤️🎶

Evanescence is a key part of my life soundtrack -- I remember driving to the coast on a windy highway after graduating, with this blasting, and singing along, and just _feeling_ every beat, bass line, and soaring note of Fallen. I'm a fan of their later stuff too, and even think some of it was artistically and objectively better, but that first album will always be iconic and an emotional touchstone for me. And yeah, they're good in concert too, although I think they do better with shorter sets, so their better concerts were always multi-performer bills. Anyway, glad you enjoyed, and congrats on hitting 200k!!

Back in the 90s there was a very special lady named Shirley Manson who fronted the band Garbage. I'd definitely recommend her for your next Female Friday! They had a string of hits: "Only Happy When it Rains," "Stupid Girl," "Push It" and "I Would Die for You" 😊 Garbage really was the Evanescence of the 90s, imo.

Check out more Halestorm (Lzzy Hale) please. She does a song featuring Amy Lee called 'Break In'. Another song I'd like to suggest is by The Hu (a Mongolian rock band that plays Mongolian instruments), their song 'A women's song' featuring Lzzy Hale is excellent and I'm sure you'll find the band quite interesting.

When I first saw them in concert in '03 I was amazed by the clarity of the sound mix as everything was crystal-clear and powerful. They rock hard but you could clearly hear Amy's amazing vocals along with her piano work....they weren't buried in the mix. At one point in the show there was a quiet slow section of a song which highlighted her vocals and I remember being blown away and blurting out "wow" and everyone around me turned around and smiled because they were feeling the same way. Amy's just a generational talent.

Absolutely great song and great reaction. For someone you haven't listened to yet, I would suggest for Female Friday (or any day for that matter) Florence and the Machine. "Dog Days" or "Hunger" would be my favorites, but choose what you want!

Amy Lee and Lzzy Hale have a song together. “Break In.” The Standing studio version is the best one. (They also have a social distancing version) Definitely revisit Halestorm. Lzzy is another level of vocals. “I Am The Fire”, “Familiar Taste Of Poison”, “Love Bites”, “All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You.” (Heart cover) I also recommend checking out We Are The Fallen. It’s basically Evanescence with singer Carly Smithson. I think they are definitely underrated. Start with “Bury Me Alive.”

I saw Evanescence in Dallas a couple years back. I was in the 3rd from the stage and my gosh, what an experience! My favorite concert EVER!

I love Amy Lee. I love Floor Jansen (and who doesn't??). I will ask you again to please consider doing Within Temptation and their amazing lead singer, Sharon den Adel (who is Dutch, like Floor). She deserves a spot in the "goth goddess with the bonkers range" pantheon. "Stand My Ground" and "The Purge" will blow you away, I guarantee it. Anyone agree?

Evanescence is supposed to eventually tour with Within Temptation. Been postponed a couple times because of quarantine, etc.

My son introduced me to Amy Lee and Evanescence. He is legally blind so a bit of a sound snob, he has been in love with her music since middle school( he's in his 30's) We went to a concert together and WOW is she a presence. It's worth every dime. do it!

They are great live. I saw them on the Family Values Tour with Korn. You should listen to Lzzy Hales song Break In featuring Amy Lee. Their voices together are magic. Also Seethers song Broken featuring Amy Lee is another good one.
