I really like Sophie. She went into an unfamiliar situation and completely adapted, with so much grace and compassion. She is so aware of her economic privilege. Never hate on someone because they have it easier than you. All it takes is open minded communication on both sides.

Sophie was right to question if the business was really a business or hobby. The amount he charges, the amount of kids that participate and then to pay a coach, leaves him in the negative. He needs to reevaluate the finances so he can make a profit.

@@amyraleigh1715when your in a deprived area you are limited to deprived clientele so its not as simple as charging more.. if the avarage family has 2 kids and £40 at the end of the month what are you gonna be able to charge for recreational activitys without alienating half the comunity... Try starting a business in a rough area and you find out pretty quickly their aint much money to go around full stop. Its very difficult when your community needs a pillar to not step up and be that and your business very easily becomes a charitable organisation.

@@lauriewu-jf5nhin Sweden you get benefits even if you earn more, it’s like they cut the Excess income so for example if you get benefits for like 500pounds you can work up to 1500pounds and still get benefit, as soon as you make a pound more than 1500 you get taxed on the excess pound only. This way it pays to work without affecting your income negatively while still benefitting the economy. I don’t understand why some of the western wealthy nations like the UK and US is still behind 🤦🏿‍♂️

Sophie's incredibly down to earth, you can tell she came onto the program with the intention to learn and not just go on some poverty tourism, judging by the way she so compassionately expressed her opinions, insights and suggestions then backed them up (especially the seemingly shallow takes) as per experience encountered, she doesnt just say things to put on a jaded facade or for shock value, you can pick up on the prevelant depth and authenticity behind the privileged veil... beautiful episode. her ability to get unequivocally involved in the proactivism, really showed how serious she is about her perceived morality and the action taken to showcase such integrity.

As an American this is wild. Youth sport coaching is a volunteer job we do outside of our fulltime employment. Two able bodied parent households don’t receive money each month - you’d have your kids taken away because you’d be unable to house and feed them. I’m considered wildly liberal and progressive in the States, for reference, and was really shocked to see Brits can choose to live like this and still be fed and housed.

All this show really does is put down the parents of the rich kid- Saying because they worked hard to make a lot of money to be able to give their children a stable and relaxing life, they failed their children. All of the rich kids i've seen so far have been well behaved, well mannered, amazing people. Asking the rich kids if they've learned any valuable lessons?? Skint parents saying they need to learn the real world and theyll show em what that is?? Why? They have their real world, an affluent one and a promising one. Maybe these skint parents could learn from the rich kids parents- how to work harder/smarter to make your kids lives better and more secure. This skint Mum needs to get a job. Some kids are in school, others off to daycare, doesnt have to be everyday. If they are on benefits they have access to cheaper child care fees.

I don't want to be mean but the charging of 5 pounds a kid is stupid ..how will you make a profit ? That leaves him with an expense considering his living situation it sincs he hasn't thought the business through🤷🏾‍♀️he should charge more for goodness sake.

Stop having kids please, they dont deserve poverty. Also i dont want to be mean, why are poor people always overweight but rich people are always skinny 😢 i never understood it. It uk thing. In my home country, rich people are overweight and poor people are skinny-ish and on correct weight. ❤

You can run the chicken under hot water for a little while and that will defrost it or soak them in hot water for a little bit and then you may have to re-soak again and again refreshing the hot water but that’s quicker

Are people on credits or whatever, allowed to save money? If so, I would eat from the food bank and invest the grocery money a few months a year. That would provide somewhat of a net of financial cushion.

Sophie might be a bit spoiled but she isn't pretentious. Honestly the father and mother have worked themselves into poverty woth poor decisions, it is kind of amazing how much support they get from the government considering they could easily earn more.

So I have sympathy for ppl in bad financial situations when it's appropriate but like if Sophie quit her job and started volunteering like the dad is doing. She'd be on welfare too. Their situation is kinda self made and they don't have my sympathy. Especially speaking as a libertarian. So... he's getting tax money and volunteers? Maybe. Idk. Get a paying job? And don't have anymore fuckin kids? Baffles me that a mother and father are like we're broke and neither has a job.
