Very nice performance, what coolant are you using for the mister? I've began making chips with my ATC Omio X6 (have some videos uploaded I think you'll like them) and was inspired by your aggressive cuts. I'll definitely try out your single flute cutters. I'm also curious about your limit switch upgrade kit since you don't have any info on the site.

Nice ATC upgrade! The limit switch upgrade comprises of two aluminium plates which allow larger switches to be used as the stock ones aren't very good. I can send you the CAD files of the plates and you can source the limit switches yourself if you would like. Send me an email at alastairpilley@gmail.com and we can talk more. Cheers

Coolant is just a generic water soluble one, I have found the richness of the mixture is important. Its meant to be 1:10 dilution, but around 1:5 works better. Also if your pocketing you don't even really need coolant, a strong, directed air-blast is more than enough.

I assume you are doing 1/8 passes? It seems way faster then what any calculator says you should be doing.

Damn, haulin ass. I think I know what endmills I'll have to try out once the Omio gets ordered

Will you please do an accuracy test?i am looking to get myself the x8 but i need some info on the accuracy with aluminum and mild steel if possible please.

What accuracy do you require for your application? I haven't had any problems with inaccuracy due to the machine itself, tool deflection can cause issues but there are ways to mitigate that.

@@ozzyboards1436 cycloidal gearboxs, bearing housings. I mostly do robotics so i need very low tolerance parts.is the machine any good with mild steel?

Its pretty accurate, you can hit 0.05mm or better on precision holes etc, definitely comes down how you CAM, tooling selection, stickout etc. In regards to mild steel, I have done a lot of mild steel cutting with 4 flute endmills. You can't cut at high MRR because you have to run the spindle slowly and because of that you don't have much torque/spindle power. For occasional parts from mild steel yeah it will work good, just not fast. Aluminium on the other hand is much faster to cut.

@@ozzyboards1436 Thank you so much for the advice. It really seems that getting the machine and the right bits will be fine for my applications. Again, thank you very much.

Nice cuts! I am surprised how well it cuts aluminum. Is this a stock X8? Did you do any modifications?
@alastairpilley42124 жыл бұрын
The machine is stock, I have made some changes such as adding some plastic on the side as an enclosure but nothing that would improve the rigidity of the machine. Cheers
