OMP Kubic Steering Wheel and Quick Release Hub Install

We went all race car feel and put in the OMP Kubic steering wheel, and the OMP Quick Release Boss in the car. These two products work seamlessly together, and will make my time behind the wheel not only comfortable, but also extremely practical. Also installed was the Sparco Carbon Foot Pedals to give my big feet a greater surface area to grab the clutch, brake and hit the gas!

Thanks for the videos. It's great to watch someone else's project as I've just started an excel cup car build myself. Helps keep me motivated to get a bit more done 👍🏻👍🏻

Glad I could give you that bit of extra motivation :). I know the feeling when it feels like you are just stuck and not getting much done. I just try and chip away jobs as they need to get done. It’s a process, but I keep looking towards the end goal of getting it on track and racing.

Just smashed through your whole series so far in a couple of days, excellent to watch, i usually have Skid Factory, MCM or Nugget Project playing while i am wrenching in the garage, itsa great way to get ideas on what to do next on your track car. Thanks again

That’s awesome! I’m glad I could keep you company while you work on your car haha. I will hopefully have another video out soon, just saving up the pennies to buy a few parts. The small time waiting to buy some things has also given me some awesome ideas to do in the car, so hopefully they will help you out also :)

I have one of the OMP quick release on my race car. It’s a lovely bit of kit but also had to wait 6 months for it. Definitely worth the wait .

Is there a way to ground the horn with this quick release similar to NRG?

Hard to find any videos on these. Does the wheel lock in nice and tight or does it have play/wiggle if you shake it around?

Nice and tight. When you seat it on, just give it a slight pull back and it sits in perfectly. But when it’s locked on, there is not wiggle or movement

@@BigRigRacing nice. thanks for the reply. Just bought some omp wrc-r seats and now I can't get in the truck with the wheel in way haha.... Definitely will be picking up one of these quick releases.

can you please measure the thickness of the OMP quick release? i'm looking for a quick release around 40mm thick.

Can do that today. I will be placing a new part in the car and need access to the quick release, so I’ll measure it then :)

It’s about 40-45mm thick mate. It was the thinnest one I could find for a quick release, that’s why I chose it. A few other people that have them who I have spoken to love them.

How do you guys keep the dash from cracking and breaking I have a drag car in the us and my dash cracks pretty bad every pass 😂 I’m thinking about doing the lc accent dash swap

That’s a pretty common issue here too. Finding a dash that isn’t cracked is like finding a unicorn..Never really happens. In an earlier video, I restored my dash and used a heap of fibreglass underneath to hold the cracks together, but also to strengthen it a good amount. There are a few places here in Australia that make a full fibreglass dash for the car also. I’ll see if I can link the video for you.

Are you able to put a horn button on the steering wheel with the quick release?

Good question. I’m sure there could be a way to retro fit some sort of button to make the horn work. There is always a way to make something work

But will a horn button fit into the quick release? I don’t need the horn to function. I just don’t want to drive around with a hole in my steering wheel. Just need the horn to be attached to my momo wheel for visual preference lol

@@FDEaries oh ok I see what your saying. It should work. I didn’t try it with my OMP steering wheel as I just didn’t want to run the horn button, but I don’t see what it wouldn’t work
