This has become one of my favorite channels because of the variety of content. I myself work mainly on gas engines but I learned a lot of skills on diesels when I was in the Army. I enjoy everything from replacing a MAF sensor, all the way down to a full rods/piston/rings rebuild. So long story short, I enjoy Rich getting into a bit of EVERYTHING. Nothing too big or too small. Keep it up

Those 8.3 Cummins engines are pretty good. We just bought 100,000 pound capacity forklift that has one in it and it seems to run pretty strong. Rich, have you ever heard of installing lines off of the heater core circuit of a pick up truck with quick connectors and then putting corresponding quick connectors on a given piece of machinery to circulate hot coolant from the truck through the cold engine in the machinery to assist with starting when it’s cold?

I have a feeling that pto assembly will be coming out very soon. I understand not dumping large amounts of money into a machine you know nothing about, but welding to a heat treated shaft will not last, likely the shaft will snap at the weld. So what we have done in the past is mill(if possible the shaft smooth, then make a splined sleeve to press over the shaft(interference). We then make a new drive for the drive plate or clutch.

I apologize if I missed it somewhere. What is the difference in the truck and industrial Cummins engine bore, stroke, compression, and timing? Was the junkyard truck engine cheaper than a heavy equipment junk yard cumins engine? At first I thought you were gonna try to use truck engine power in a dozer and break some bulldozer parts! Hahaha. I own lots of equipment. That’s a nifty little dozer. Some don’t seem to like the d41 in comparison to other brands but I’d take it!
