That river looks so clean and beautiful, you're so lucky to have that nearby...The most obvious spots are usually passed by the more experienced prospectors as everyone thinks it's been hit hard by everyone else but it's usually the newbies who will pick the easiest places and they don't do a thorough job. I've seen people clean out the cracks in the sidewalk of a carpark and find gold...everyone else just walks over it to get to the river and search there, so sometimes what's right in front of you is the best place to search. At worst you'll find flour gold nearby...Just be careful entering old mines as it can look safe but have gas that can kill...let someone know where you will be going into a mine and how long, just text them when you're done to be safe. Keep trying as that is the hardest part, with record gold prices more people will be taking up the hobby-so soon you'll need to hike a few miles to get to where most people would not go, it's great that your gf likes the hobby too but when it's too cold to pan maybe metal detect instead...you get to keep warmer and dryer (normally)...Maybe hike 5 miles to where no vehicles can get to and camp out a few days when its nice weather and work like crazy...just finding an ounce will give you plenty of money to upgrade your tools...just keep doing what you enjoy though...it'll never be a chore if its fun. I love the video, good job with the sluice, and nice gold. What angle do you position your sluice, if I may ask? I try to keep mine at about 7° on a bubble level that I have on my phone. As always, safe prospecting and may your day truly be blessed! 🤠⛏️

If you do get an A52 sluice box and you are working that other river you will want about a 4" - 5" drop on sluice top to bottom and water levels dang near the very top of the sluice box. I heard you mention a lot of black sand in this video. If you have a lot of black sand at any location you can increase the drop a little bit ( does not take much) if you see material packing in behind the riffles. If the material behind the riffles is bouncing around you are good! When I first got an A52 ( 1980s) it took some time to have confidence in what I perceived as too much water flow. But gold settles down quick. If you seen dredge videos like White Water on Discovery ( or other dredges in operation) the water flows fast. The A52 w/ miners moss will catch the smallest pieces. That always amazed me.
