Throttle control, knowing the tire’s limit, and the overall feel for what the car is saying will still translate from drifting into time attack. He’s probably not the fastest, but still very quick.

Not really. If you know cars placement it's still a relatively similar approach. However, It's easier to go from grip to drift imo.
