my thought was if you are putting the external patch on anyway why not use PVC SOLVENT on both the inner and outer patches then if the inner does fail the outer will still stop any leakage at no extra cost

کاملا اشتباه است. چون امکان داره اون قطعه ای که داخل لوله گزاشت به مرور زمان از جا کنده بشه و در داخل لوله به یه زانویی گیر کنه و در داخل لوله گرفتگی ایجاد بشه و بعد یه فاجعه هست.

Came to say just this. Also would have used proper PVC pipe solvent to attach the repair sleeve.

Feather the edges of the internal patch to reduce friction for wire pulling or turbulence for water transmission.

@@pacemart60 don't have to cut, just use pvc cement to put the outer piece on would be a much better fix long term.

Since it's a non pressure situation , you probably could as long as you prep the inner contact surface of the iron pipe and use a good quality epoxy like jb weld. The pvc patch and iron pipe will need the contact surfaces to be roughed up for best adhesion of the epoxy. I have used aluminum from a soda can to bridge holes in iron traps under old concrete wash sinks . The epoxy build up on the outside becomes the pipe when the aluminum eventually corrodes away. Sure beats finding adapters for pvc to iron and the high cost of these repair parts.

If you don't have the money or time for a repair using code approved parts , you could use the method . I have done it with 2 inch sch 40 irrigation pipe 2 feet below the ground with good results( 75 psi). Stainless steel clamp on patches and compression unions are okay as long as the rubber gaskets don't degrade. Meticulous cleaning of the inner surface of the pipe and prep for proper solvent weld is critical with edge feathering of the outside edge of the patch. Avoid excess glue on the inside ,as this will also help reduce water turbulence . Using approved repairs may still leave edges on the inside which can add resistance and turbulence. It's empowering to make successful repairs in ways that are not "Approved" . Almost like being punished for a victimless crime.

The pipe is treated for uv so sun does not crack the pipe. Hub for coupling usually attached on ends. 3 and 4 inch pipes usually for the heavy guage wire.

Supply water pipe is white drain pipe is usually black ABS. Water drainage into dirt or rock is white corigated dsw pipe.
