I have done this before but that time it was not so difficult - • 500 : An Unforgettable...
As a railfan, I never thought I would say this…
A footplate on the EMD’s nearly cost my life. The fear of losing one’s life happened to me on this ride
Going down the Ghats on a loco is a wonderful experience and reverse is totally opposite.
The smoke, heavy 8th notch sound and heat made it a terrible experience as the journey duration increased. Going through the Tunnel just increased the bad experience exponentially

One of the best videos I have ever seen on the internet (the way you shot it made me feel I was also in the loco). Thank you for sharing such a wonderful "memory of life" with us, 99% of us will never be able to travel in such an adventurous way. Sorry to know that the sound, heat and smoke made you uncomfortable and tired.

Try footplating an alco.. or emd short hood forward to ease the discomfort. Sorry to hear you had to experrience that my friend. When I was 5 years old my grandfather took me for a cab ride in a wdm2 to guntakal. It was wonderful!!😊

Sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the ride.... happy to hear that you have got out of it with no permanent damage... and very happy to see the video, because it is outstanding. You will forget the discomfort, the heat, the smoke, and the ear-splitting noise... and remember the better parts only... Well, I expect you will, or at least I wish that to you.

Yes indeed... In steam times it would have been sure death. Some steam locomotives here had a scoop to catch air from the space under the engine and blow it to the crew, avoiding suffocation. I thank you again for your hard work to make this wonderful video. I want to visit Goa and see this place with my own eyes, and your video is a keen reminder...

Very true. Nothing can beat the horn, the chugging and the smell of an ALCO smoke. Every time an ALCO passes by, it leaves behind its legacy with the trail of smoke. However, as far I can remember, before EMDs, this section was ruled by a fleet of Baldies. So, yes, ALCOs had their time too.

nice video bro,I hv been to dudhsagar in February,we weren't allowed to do trekking..they were strict about the rules,,wen we asked y we r not allowed ,they said bcoz some people damaged properties of Indian railways itseems so tht they r not allowing..

Natarajan C yes we can see more plastic trashes,,it was huge mess over there we can see the trashes while going in train ,,my opinion is that they should again restart the trekking as it's the tourist attraction they can take preventive measures to avoid plastic...

I have two questions.. Why didn't the BCNA rake run with 5 locos?? And, why didn't the loco right in front of you have buffers?

Actually the two locos WDG4s are twins. they cannot separate for their entire journey till overhauling. So one doesnt have buffer(Right) and the other side (Left) has buffer... (another loco which has buffer left side doesnt have the buffer on the right side).

May be BCNA are Empty wagon.

If the locos are provided with AEB ( Auto emergency braking ) and its a empty load. Brakers are not needed.. CBC ( Center buffer Couplers ) dont require one. They will not bump into each other like screw couplers hence there is no need. :)

No, I mean to ask.. Generally, locos are provided with both CBC and Screw Couplers. And are also provided with buffers to support screw couplers. But the locos did not have buffers. So I guess the loco is strictly for operation in CBC Coupling.

video was nice I appreciate the things you did, but I request you not to take risk, do railroad fanning with the safety precautions first never risk your life for publicity and fan following it's a humble request not to risk your life, video was very nice it was nice location dude Sagar is known as the best location in India nice capture, do take care of your health and do not take risk and thank you for making and sharing the video

First and foremost - If this was for fame only, i would have uploaded this video in 2014 itself when it was shot. I am human after all bound to make mistake and this was one of them. Have never tried this again till now and i never will.. Taking risk is different from making stupid decision. Being a photographer you will have to push yourself but yes with safety precautions. Thank you :)

We were not allowed and they had the rights to do so. There were orders because of a group which caused a big problem when they were allowed. So no one is allowed inside the cab.. :)
