One Lamborghini V12 goes in as Harry's is ready to come out | Tyrrell's Classic Workshop

Fresh from the success of the last video featuring two Lamborghini Countach, one of course belonging to Harry Metcalfe, it's high time for another workshop catch-up to see where those two cars are up to along with a host of other fine examples currently occupying the workshop.
Iain begins with the black Countach from the US, outlining what's been discovered about the fuel systems and catching up with Pete about the electrical/ ignition systems, both of which have conspired to prevent the car from firing up. From there we move on to the Citroën SM that featured a few episodes ago to see the fabulous work that Craig has done restoring the seats, along with a repair for the window mechanisms that threw up a surprise connection to an Italian icon!
We then move on to the 350GT, the 5th-ever production Lamborghini that is on the home stretch of its restoration, before catching up with Craig to discuss his work on that car along with the Citroën SM. And Craig has obviously been a busy-bee because more of his work features in the next subject, the fibreglass 308 that has featured in previous catch-ups and whose chassis is happily now of a much sturdier standing than when it arrived!
On the day of filming, a V12 lovingly rebuilt in-house is ready to be refitted into a Lamborghini Espada. This provides a nice contrast to the final preparation work for Harry's Countach ready for the engine and gearbox to come out.

Love the work on the 3500GT. I knew a wonderful elderly gentleman, now deceased (the quintessential Argentinian playboy), who told me a fascinating story that relates to those cars. He had one, and when he returned the car to the factory for a service, he confronted Ferrucio and told him he, Ferrucio, wasn't a gentleman. Asked why, he said that the passengers door had no key lock, which meant he couldn't open the door for his female companion without having to get in his side and reach across to open the door. Ferrucio called his factory manager over and said that from now on, all cars were to have passenger door key entry. Just another part of the story.

Reminds me of a Chasing Classic Cars episode where Wayne Carini needed a new pop up headlight mechanism for a Ferrari Daytona and the part number looked like a Porsche number. He went outside, found a Porsche 914, verified the number and removed that unit in order to get the Ferrari completed.

@@conflagrationTuesday Haha! Yes, an improved rats nest, following the same routes but with better connectors. What a stupid place to put electrics (originally), right under a vent, where even the rain gets in. It needs a better umbrella!

Battery not connected but the interior light is on! The SM interior seems to be the anthesis of most 70's black vinyl interiors. Very nice indeed.

Great episode again. Love watching this. Since the Countach has got the Bosch K-Jetronic injection system you might consider the 1970s trick of adding two stroke oil once or twice a year (0,5 to 1 litre of oil on one full tank will do). It works wonders in K-Jet cars that don't do a lot of miles, since it lubricates the tiny components in the injectors, fuel distributor and fuel pump. This was a standard procedure in Mercedes Benz and other brand's dealers back then. Full synthetic scooter oil works best since it doesn't smoke and has useful cleaning additives.

I believe it's fair to say that we're all very fortunate to get to see the work that gets done at Tyrrell's shop. As he said, it's really not his core business making videos and he probably doesn't need the advertising given the reputation that he already has.

I really appreciate the interior trimming portions of these videos. Using the correct materials and applying them properly makes or breaks a restoration imo. You guys nail it and again, its something that is often overlooked in restoration videos.

When watching your videos, I am struck by the authenticity of both the knowledge being shared and the work being done. Not things I typically associate with full-time KZfaqrs. The sheer level of craftsmanship and automotive knowledge in that garage is simply mind-boggling. What an amazing crew under that one roof! Just to sort out the clusterf**k of wiring on the US Countach is a remarkable feat in and of itself. Hats off to you blokes!

I've only been watching this channel for a short time (since Rover SD1 Vitesse) but just adore it! No music, no filler, no gimmicks - just the things that you want to see. It makes me regret the last 30yrs of my life in a way as I always wanted to be a car mechanic for marques such as these but that never happened. I live that life vicariously now though these videos. Thankyou so much for making them... :o)

People cannot really grasp the expense that is involved using these precious leathers and woolen carpets, both of which are somewhat rare bits into and of themselves. They deserve the best hands from the finest craftsmen to turn them into interior parts...the paint, paint mat hing, steel and aluminum fabricating, the body work in metal and fiberglass...all just WOW-WOW-WOW!!! - my hat's off to ALL OF THESE ANAZING GUYS!!!

One of my best friends was the original owner of that 308GTB (with that reg plate too)... bought new back in the 1970s . He also raced a Formula 5000. I had the pleasure of riding in the Ferrari to pubs and clubs, on many occasions. RIP my friend.

im stunned at the praise you give your workers ,outstanding ,thats how an employer should treat all hes excellent staff who are able to put out such incredible work and as for your trimmer who did the interior on that DS ,he should be given a raise a medal a statue out front, for hes skill set is beautiful ,much respect from Australia
