Newport, Rhode Island surfer, Dan Fischer posted a Tik Tok with an open invitation to those struggling with loss to write their loved ones’ names on his surf board. After thousands of submissions and stories poured in, Dan takes his board covered with those names out to ride one last wave and forever memorialize them in a place they so deeply loved - the ocean.

You are amazing!! You are making a difference!! Please add my Pap; Andrew Reynolds. He passed away in December,1982. He had pancreatic cancer. He wasn’t with us long after his diagnosis. He was a captain of a coal barge out in the three rivers of Pittsburgh all of his life. He was an amazing and loving husband, father and grandfather. Thank you for making a difference. I am his very proud granddaughter Stacey McWilliams

Would love to add my awesome Son, awesome Austin Bates, lost his life in a swimming accident at little River Falls Alabama in 2020, he was 23 years young, athlete, Qb, college football player and mma fighter , til we meet again love Mom.,.. and Everyone you touched!!!! 💔💔💔💔💔

Dan Fischer, next to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, heads my list of best men during my lifetime. I'm honored he included my father on Board 5 and I will be forever grateful. Love you, Dan!

Durban, South Africa is 13,077 klm (8,126mi) from Main,USA but you manage to touch my soul and put me into tears with your video, I lost my father in 2007 and i miss him so much, you see.., the pain and grief that goes with it is indescribable it pierces through your heart no one can make it better, somehow you find a way to ease the pain, I was thinking about him and i came across this wonderful video Thank you brother for grieving with all of us who have lost a father, God bless you ❤

Dan- you always have a way of turning life's big hard things into such beautiful pieces of moving art-- and then invite people in - to join you in the cathartic experience. As if to say - "come on over, it's okay to feel it all - this is how I feel it." After seeing this I cried for you when you were choking up on screen, I absolutely love your song choice (Eddie always delivers ;) and I was gushing at that TRUCK! Mostly though this made me so happy to see that you are (still) creating such beautiful art for the world to participate in. Keep going. You are the best.

A friend sent this to me. I relate more than I’d like to. This is beautiful. I recently lost 3 very very close people in my life and would LOVE for you to put their names on your board. Do you still accept names. I can also give you their stories.
