I've always imagined getting an old library card catalog dresser thing for holding all my cards. I think it'd look nice and give me that nostalgia kick.

How heavy do the boxes get to slide out? I’m deciding between getting the 18” or the 10” and one of my concerns is that with how filled those boxes could get if it’ll be worth just going smaller size but getting more

Thanks for doing these videos. You're the only one I see doing these storage solutions. What I'm using is the ikea Alex drawers. Maybe look into these.

These look like the best storage drawer options I've seen so far. I do wonder if there's enough wiggle room to attach some felt strips to the bottoms of the drawers to make opening them smoother. Also, part of me prefers the short drawer sides that proper card catalogues have, but that's just a nitpick.

You actually can order strips of felt that you can stick to the bottom of the drawers to make it a bit smoother. They are an add on but I do like them a lot.

My holy grail would be drawers that fit perfectly into an ikea kallax. Get a 3 by 4 kallax and you can set it on it's side and sort your cards on the top (while standing), then put them away into the drawers. Leave some compartments open for your other board games, D&D manuals, etc.

As an update, we now have a 12 row 6 drawer unit that fits in Kallax shelves! :)

I have had some idea of building something simmilar myself, but mine was based on the MOPPE mini chest of drawer from IKEA. I like this but in my mind the depth is a design flaw, it should be bookcase deep. And you can also make some print to wood transfers like with acetone. 🗂

Just found your channel. I am a sports card collector always looking for a better to store my collection. I saw your other video about the Ultra-Pro & BCW plastic organizers and was ready to pull the trigger on the BCW. Now I going to look at this storage option. I agree with you that MTech looks a 💯 better to set out on a shelf in my room and sturdy enough for the long haul. Thanks for your channel. Just curious to know if you discuss sports cards or just the playing cards (sorry if called them buy the wrong name).

I’m so glad my videos helped you! Thank you so much for letting me know. I pretty much focus on trading card games, specifically Magic: The Gathering. BUT, I do review on accessories that work for both game cards and sports cards in a lot of cases. And I’ve been trying to be more “neutral” in those reviews recently because I realized these many of these accessories are for more that just MTG. I would love to get a sports card enthusiasts take on a lot of these things. So if you do happen to watch more of my stuff, keep the comments coming! While I focus on Magic, I want my videos, especially my review videos, to be as helpful as possible to as many folks as possible. Thank you again for commenting and watching!

The mother in law suit I live in has wood on wood drawers and I hate them. gets stuck sometimes, can lean down if it's too far out. Sometime in my first year or two I had one that refused to push in and due to already being annoyed with the darn things I gave it an extra hard push and cracked the front where it drops down to hide the slot. Just a semi related thing to the wood on wood. So far none of these storage solutions have fit my needs but, eh, I just use 400 and 800 BCW boxes and store them on a bookshelf. I think I need to downscale my commons a bit. Maybe.

I personally prefer grey plastic over the wood, quite frankly. Definitely a smart design but I personally do not like the look at all. But in all honesty, I have yet to find any bulk storage solution that is aesthetically pleasing.

@@beyondthedeckbox I've found myself really enjoying and appreciating your videos as I've been organizing and improving my Magic collection. It's great to get your honest opinions on products with an in depth look because it helps me know exactly what I'm getting before I buy something. And I agree, it all comes down to personal taste. To each their own and that's what can be awesome. I love seeing other people's collections and how they organize.

I don't think it's quite what you're looking for, but ever looked into Toyger's CEO storage and drawers system? That may be what I'll consider for myself if I ever get a big enough collection of cards.

Love your channel man. What clamps do you recommend? I'm absolutely the audience you said might have issues, but I want this set-up and want to power through. Do you have a recommendation on what clamps I need?

I used the Pony Strap Clamp (affiliate link here: amzn.to/3YrS64o). It’s pretty cheap. I was able to do it with one strap but it took longer as I had to wait for each part to fully dry before moving on to the next. But these worked great. You might be able to find this or something similar at your local Lowes or Home Depot (or big box hardware store near you.). Thanks for the comment!

I Really wanted in on this kickstarter for my Galactic Empires Cards but I needed something like 18 of these things for all of them and just could not justify the cost.

I can completely understand that. If I hadn't decided to downsize my collection I probably would have come to the same conclusion. But I'm always on the lookout for other solutions, because I know what worked for me might not work for others. The search never ends.

They have been holding up wonderfully. The fact they are plywood helps keep any wood movement to a minimum. I expect these to stay fairly straight and rigid for a long time. Thanks for watching!

I'm sorry as I couldn't find a specific product to compare it to. I do know they sell a version of these drawers that fit in the Ikea Kallax shelves perfectly! I hope that helps!
