Felt bad for pragg and vidit this round. First time we saw ian down on time too in this tournament. Im rooting for ian but this was heartbreaking to watch. Now i truly believe agad that not all draws are equal

Yea, it happens quite a lot, that black hard defends and in the end, even after 3000 attack from white and slide or higher edge advantage, black can manage to draw. With white it is rare, but with black, it happens quite a lot and we must give credits to both sides. Pragg just outsmarted Ian and played higher quality chess, however Ian did really perfect defense with almost every move ''ONE ONLY MOVE'' situation... Hands down to both.

Chess-wise, I can't feel bad for him. It's not like he had some brilliant ideas or fought really well and drew anyway. He had just memorized a line and as soon as the prep was over he made sub-optimal moves. I did feel bad for Vidit though, because he did fight for a long time and he did have many good moves made by himself.

I was lucky enough to see this game live. Nepo after D5 had the look of someone who believed they were beaten the whole time he was calculating. Doing classic Nepo esc discontented muttering and gestures. However he went on to play masterfully with the position he had. It was also fun to see when they were on move 16 most of the rest of the hall, open and women’s only on move 6.

8:34 According to browser stockfish, the position after bxh2 is evaluated at +0.1 so almost certainly a draw. However, the line that occurred in the game was evaluated as +2.4 but only if white can find the singular winning line. Obviously, engines see all, but it is interesting how big that one mistake is

"Once there was only darkness... if you ask me that means the light is winning" is a total inversion of "Time is a flat circle" since that means that deterministic outcomes can't be possible as the Light is making progress against the Dark.

Wholly disagree. Light's path is determined, as is all matter. We only perceive an illusion of choice.

@@cygnustsp posted on the wrong video but just cause all paths of all matter can be predicted with enough processing to calculate all probabilities doesn't make it actually true... nothing is perfect and therefore that imperfection invalidates Deterministic outcomes. The universe being run on an infinite loop will always have an infinite number of solutions since those "imperfections" will manifest themselves in infinite ways. As that's the very definition of what "Free Will" is by being imperfections going against the perfection of "God's Will"
