I purchase this Z06 in 2017 with just 40,000 miles on it and Ive done some work to it but I rarely take it out and enjoy it and I dont know why.
This is my backstory of the car and how I obtained it and some current shots of it on a nice day. I do plan to do more with it and I doubt I will ever sell it. It is one of the best Corvette’s GM ever made and a lot of fun to drive.
Update: I realized after posting I made a mistake and that the Z06’s didn’t include Brembo Calipers from the factory.

As a C5 owner…I’m jealous nice ride. Nice wheels. I have C6 speedline starfish wheels on my C5 with 305s on rear. I have a 99 vert 6m lowered on stock bolts, artic white with Lexus blue pearl. She’s my baby and been in the shop for many months getting work done on her. I happy I came across your channel I felt as though I had seen almost every corvette video on KZfaq till now. Keep up the good work bro. Maybe from watching this I can start my own channel for my baby.😂

I bought mine with HCI already done. Title of this video hits close to home for me, got my z06 in February of 2020 with 18,600 miles and I’m just now about to cross 28,000…most of those miles were from the first couple years of ownership

Nice car, the wheels you presently have are better looking than the black ones. The car sounds great and I do hope you enjoy it. I presently own a 2023 70 anniversary HTC which I enjoy Sunday driving! I am a disabled Vietnam veteran, formally employed at the VAMC Lake City and also contributed with the opening of the Tallahassee VA Outpatient Clinic. Hey there - great story on your C6 purchase. Nice to hear you got that great info from previous owner. You got yourself a good deal! As for which wheels. I lean towards the black ones. Black is more sinister looking. But these others are nice as well. So it seems you cant go wrong. As for which gen. I personally like c6. the styling to me is just bad ass and sexy as it was in the 60's. I picked up a cyber gray metallic 09 Z with 12K miles on it back in dec '22.100% stock. Still had the original tires on it. Top three appointment's I made were #1 Heads fixed #2. replaced all tires and gave it an alignment. #3. paint correction and ceramic coated. And my oh my it brings smiles for miles. Enjoy your car! Get those calipers painted or coated red.. ;) or sniff the used market for the OEM. $$ but you can counter the cost by selling the wildwoods.

Thanks for the vid on your experiences with the dealership and owning the 'Vette. As far as the wheels go, I like the track wheels. Not a big fan of black wheels, and I own a '13 'Vette GS that is triple black, convertible, auto with the paddles on the steering wheel. But as I tell everyone I speak to on here, it's your car. Do what makes you happy, and to heck with everyone's opinion otherwise.

First of all, good job with the video. Now for the wheels, I like the the ones u put on. They look way better than those black ones. With that said, I love the black factory wheels on my C7 Z06. If I had extra $ to play with, I would buy a C6 Z06 and modify it just a bit.

I think the black wheels are more of a trend and it depends on the car and car color. I love the formality of the Tuxedo black Vette: you can get on the road course, clean it up, and drive it downtown to whatever nightspot you want and it fits right in. I think polished rims look fine, aftermarket are better if you want to stand out. If I see stock rims, I’m assuming the car is stock. Otherwise, there is probably more done than just the wheels. Just an assumption, but it’s probably someone who likes tweaking things. And with an LS7, that can be many more horses!

I'm always amazed, especially by now, how many people are driving around with stock heads on LS7's! If you truly like/love your car get them rebuilt/exchanged. You cannot get an LS7 factory crate engine anymore. FYI. Cheers from Canada. C6 Z06 for ever! I'm jaded as I have an 09 Atomic Orange :⁠-⁠)

I replaced my C5 Z with a C6 Z and I have to admit the C6 is better. Mine has a 660 Lingenfelter package so I don't worry about the heads. You got a very good deal on yours considering that same Vette would 45-50K in 2024.

The C6z I definitely feels offers more performance but my C5z I feel is a tighter car, love them both. I do like the LPE cars, have a buddy with one that's sweet. It was the perfect time in the market for me

There's things on the C6 that the C5 doesn't but I do miss having a real key to crank with, miss the pop-up lights, and less electronics on the C5. Both generations were built to last. You can't beat an LS motor.@@lsx_doc

It’s funny you said that because when i made the video i kind of fealt like it was better quality than past videos which some I film in 4k and some just HD but always on my Iphone 13…. I thought about buying a legit camera for this but the iphone makes it so simple but the day was really clear and nice and that’s the only reason I can think it looks better. @blacksupersport8311 I was so close to pulling the trigger on a black 00 SS, sticker was 30K and incentives brought it down to 25K. Silver 5 spokes 6sp, perfect as it was. I had just started working, bought a house, just couldn’t swing it. Sales guy was super cool, no pressure, it’s like he knew what I was up against and really didn’t want me to overextend. I appreciated that since I was already so conflicted. Either way, it’s a great car and if I bought it I would’ve never let it go.

Really enjoyed this, I am actually looking for a Z06 but want to find one that’s had the heads done by a reputable shop with supporting documentation. Not looking for a race car just a reliable fun street car,…but not black lol. Yours looks fantastic but I live in Texas and black paint gets destroyed here in the heat. Personally I prefer the ICON wheels.

Awesome little story. I keep an eye on the Corvette market like a hawk. You are right that $30k is a really good price now for a good condition C6 Z06. You got a great deal. Pre-covid they were like 28-30k for the good, lower mileage condition ones. I feel like the C5's are starting to come way down and are becoming abundant. I've been waiting 3 years to pull trigger on a Vette. lol

Absolutely, this was 2017 when I got it so the market on them was at its lowest. At that time I was picking up C5’s that were really nice for under $10k, good luck with finding one and thanks for watching

For low mileage, under 50k miles 40$ would be good. I'm looking at Grand Sports, 38,000$ for a low mileage convertible is about right.

@@LouZ2 GS were low-mid 20's, and really nice examples of Z06 were $30k in 2020. These are not collectors cars nor are they rare.... don't be consumer minded. Things are going down as we speak and I've already been seeing it. Saw a C7 Z51 low mileage, clean, with manual listed for $35k yesterday. Thats the same price they were 4 years ago. The vettes are coming down, be patient.

It sounds like you got a steal given all the work done to it which is probably why they tried to renegotiate the pricing once you arrived. LOL! Figures....I am debating getting a stock Z06 with pretty low miles any advice for purchasing these?

Thank you for watching. I will say that even low mile can have its issues with these cars. If there is no torque tube noise that's always a good sign. I would stay 08 and newer because it has a better trans. All LS7's have a head flaw unless fixed and they can swallow a valve easy, I would look for one with proof of the work being done. I much prefer your silver ICON rims for 3 reasons : I’m not a fan of black on black, so your ICON upgrade is an enhancement indeed. The Asian style design of the black rims was hideous, cheap looking and dishless. Your ICON design is not dissimilar to the OM Series from Australian brand 🇦🇺 SIMMONS WHEELS which are also a split-rim 3 piece with a chrome dish of varying depth. The centre piece colour choices are white, black, gold, silver, chrome or grey in a matte, gloss, satin or polished finish. My mate owns a black PORSCHE 993 Turbo S with custom SIMMONS from the FR Series ( 5-spoke centres) in satin silver. They’re 19” rims but the rears are 13” wide and the chrome dish looks insane with the silver centres against the gloss black paintwork … as does yours.👌🏻 Edit : I love the Z06 in the C6 , C7 and the mid-mounted C8. Your C6 is phenomenal sounding brother!

I did a side by side with my C5 Z06 and did end up doing black wheels but the car is yellow so it's a little more favorable but if I could find another set of wheels like my icons or weld RTS I would go that route in the future

He had absolutely zero reasons to be an ass to me and being a little bit polite goes a long way. If they treated him that way that’s on them, not me. Ive owned a ton of cars and rarely get a spare key so I wouldnt have much cared. You would think someone would be grateful to take the time and meet you and tell you everything you want to know about your new car
