@@wayygamingyt True. I've never done that with BGS but in my experience talking with others that never seems to work out well but it's not hard to crack a PSA case. I've cracked hundreds and never damaged a card before but good advice if you don't want to crack it. Why not take a shot.

Thanks for watching and I appreciate you sharing your opinion and the constructive criticism. bad habit I have been trying to break. I don't think either is more accurate really and there is no data to suggest that as at the end of the day it's one graders subjective opinion of your card. All we have is anecdotal evidence really of that. I have sent PSA 9s to BGS and got BGS 10s and I have cracked BGS 9.5s and got PSA 9s. Doesn't mean PSA is harsher to grade because that happened to me. It's not an apples to apples comparison between the two because of the 9.5 grade which technically is a PSA 10 but we've seen this shift across the different hobbies now where most people value the PSA 10 even more than a BGS 10 and the BGS 9.5 is viewed as a PSA 9. It's an odd thing to see happen. Agree on the sub-grades, always nice to see them not the slab though. I very much prefer the PSA slab. I've said for years PSA should offer grader notes. BL is a chase to be sure. I don't personally value the BL as many in the hobby do with people paying 3x what a PSA 10 costs. It's very possible the PSA 10 I have is just as good a card as a BL and most likely many of my cards are. You are paying 3x more for the label imo but if that is what makes people happy go for it. BGS has UV resistant material in their plastic but not much as it would turn the slab yellow but yes, they do have that. Thanks for watching and great points! Hard to say. That isn't typically how cards work where people say Oh, there are less BGS 10s than PSA 10 so they are more valuable. Years ago sure, a BGS 10 was viewed as better than a PSA 10 but that gap has really changed with PSA 10s in many cases being worth more because they are the more popular grading company. It really depends on what people want. Do they want a PSA 10 or do they want a BGS graded card? I feel like because you can get BLs that has hurt the BGS 10s as well. PSA is generally viewed as the #1 grading company for most cards. Bandai and Weiss Schwarz are two outliers I can think of that are very popular with BGS because they are so well made and have a chance at a BL which most other cards have no chance of getting. I feel like for One Piece PSA is gaining a lot of traction as going for BL that are becoming harder to get is not as popular as it was a year ago. In most cases with BGS from my limited sampling you are more often than not going to get a BGS 9.5 so if you are selling now PSA is the better option and why I grade with them. I also keep a few graded copies of most cards in my collection as well that I think will have high value like the ones I went over in this video. Mostly pre eratta, winner cards, manga, pre release and judge stamped cards. Nothing stopping a person from cracking a PSA 10 and sending to BGS later in life either so that option is always available to you. Thanks for watching and love the comments! @@hatchershits9256 yup great content, how I go about it is, I raw card review at Beckett…then decide to go to PSA or Beckett..from my experience..submitted 14 one piece cards…4 came back bgs 10..rest were 9.5…sent the 9.5 to PSA…and submitted the 4 bgs 10 for encapsulation…out of the 4…1 came back as Black….

That's just the point, you don't know and since the odds are you will get a PSA 10 easier than getting a BGS 10 and they sell for around the same amount for resale PSA makes the better choice imo.

It seems like judging your centering closer to 55/45 is the only indicator that you can go for a black label or BGS 10. From my testing with this centering tool most OP Cards are 60/40, which means centering for a PSA 10 is an automatic pass for almost any OP card. Beckett wants 55/45 or better.@@hatchershits9256

That is my experience as well. They are just the preferred grading company for most people. What drives BGS for One Piece is the perception that the BGS 10 and Black Label are the superior card to a PSA 10 and that is just not true at all just as a BGS 9.5 might be a better card then a PSA 10 in some cases. Buy the card, not the grade which is hard these days with so many purchases online.

Respectfully, we are not talking about quality of the card, we are talking about the hobby’s perspective that a PSA 10 is the norm, and a Black BGS 10 is the Unicorn of the hobby. And all collectors want what the other people don’t have (and will pay a premium for rarity) and if a psa 10 has a gem rate of 95%…in the long term…that is not sustainable in terms of ROI.

@@BLcardz I am talking about value returns with regards to grading either with PSA or BGS. If you have a 50% chance to get a BGS 9.5, a 43% chance to get a BGS 10 and a 7% chance to get a BL but a 90% chance to get a PSA 10 yet the PSA 10 sells for as much as a BGS 10. 9/5 sells for about raw price and BL if you happen to get one sells for 3x a PSA 10 which option is going to provide better value? PSA imo because you are likely going to end up with a lot of 9.5s that nobody wants unless they are going to crack and send to PSA or resend to BGS and that costs more money. If BGS grades of 10s and BL were more common then the situation would certainly change but they are not and BL from what I have seen are getting scarcer than when OP01 came out as well. I understand the BL is viewed as the unicorn in the hobby but not by me. Just because a card gets a BL doesn't mean it's a better quality card than a PSA 10. You are paying double and triple the price for the label not the card. I would much rather have a PSA 10 at 1/3rd the cost of a BL in my collection any day of the week. @@hatchershits9256 good luck. great videos. BL are getting scarce which I want…I agree with you short term but not long term. 95% gem rate is not something I would invest in long term. Full stop. Again appreciate the mature conversion, I think definitely two sides have valid points. I am a sportcard collector and psa is king…but like pokemon cards which Japanese can be more desirable than English…it obvious that English One piece trumps Japanese one piece. I bought a Oda BGS 10, I had a chance to get a psa 10 Oda…but my choice was to wait and find a Oda in a BGS 10 label…to me a raw Oda isn’t valued much more than a Oda psa 10, which has a high gem rate.
