Okay I like the Shanks has multiple hats theory, but it made think of better one, Shanks just giving out pieces of his outfit to promising young pirates to encourage them to come find him. Hat to Luffy, his coat to another one, his boats to a third, etc... till he's just chilling on the boat in his boxers. Also, there was never a chance for Luffy to be Roger's kid. Roger died 22 years ago and Luffy is only 17. But yeah this little arc is just so damn packed with twists and reveals!

Small hilarious detail: Marco,the guy who warned the rookies about fainting, has three color schemes in the anime because the animators had no idea Oda had planned him from the start. He also appeared in the previous Whitebeard scene

A lot of the stuff regarding Themes I wouldn't call 'theory', I would call it 'a reading'. Do love the Shanks Multi-Hat Theory. That's Excellent, no comment on it's veracity. Parts like Post-Enies, LogueTown and Jaya are my favorite. When we get to be steeped in the wider goings-on of the world. Loving this format, appreciate the effort. Very fun!

Great video! Very curious about your thoughts on the next arc considering how "divisive" it is. Very tonally different as well as a certain character related thing most fans aren't happy with, but if you go in with an open mind and don't expect it to be as good as Water 7 or Enies Lobby I think it's actually really enjoyable and honestly has some of the most incredible moments in the story. They mentioned it frequently, I don't remembered when. It's why it never crossed my mind even though it's a popular theme to think an important figure is the father of the protagonist.

I'm glad you had the inclination to think about the light and darkness theme stuff. Just to add on to your points on that, its good analysis but the language used in the story to juxtapose those things specfically draw light as being from the Sun. The Thousand Sunny has the sunny lion head, the attack Ace uses looks like a giant sun and Blackbeard even references the concept by posturing who would win against the sun and "darkness"

Frankly didn’t cross the calm belt I’m pretty sure about it but maybe I’m wrong, and iirc we don’t have any recollection of Montblan D Nolan do it but I can see it happening even tho it was probably more dangerous back then. Only mihawk and Krieg were able to cross it, krieg because of luck and Hawkeye cause he is dumb strong. Anyway is still a risky move.
