First video of the year!! Pretty much footage of the same ride to work, different day. Here it was “Feels like” 3*F (-16 C). Which is really cold. I was also a little bit late leaving the house last Thursday… Needless to say I’m really looking forward to better weather and I definitely plan to wake up earlier, film more often and in different ways, and overall produce a ton of sick and varied content for you guys this year. It’s been a slow start, but I haven’t forgotten my channel! (Far from it). Subscribe!
-
Riding my Onewheels in the cold doesn’t really bother me, it’s the massive amount of SALT and SNOW that really make a mess of the Winter. Some days it’s just TOO snowy, TOO wet, TOO salty for me to comfortably ride. This video is an example of a day that was pretty cold, but the streets were clear. Days like these I continue to ride my board into work.
//
Board Setup (LINKS BELOW):
- Onewheel XR in Custom Shaping -2, 0, 8
- KUSH back footpad from TheFloatLife
- The Wheel is the FlightFins Hoosier 6 Treaded. Super solid tire for Winter riding! Highly recommend.
- The fender/cover setup is the FULLFLIGHT from FlightFins!! The BEST one wheel fender setup for snow or heavy dirt trails because it has room for the buildup to fall out without compacting.
- Limited Edition Blue FlightFins
- TheFloat.Life griptape
TheFloat.Life White&Black SideKicks protecting rails
Reflective stickers on the motor hub and rails by OWArmor
- PLUS model front bumper
- Stroh Dank Green front Float plate
XR Stroh back float plate
-The SilverHandle as found on CraftandRide.com
//
Film setup:
Osmo Mobile + extension pole and a Gopro session.
Other Gear:
The black jeans I’m wearing are the Boulder Denim 2.0’s. I highly recommend these jeans!! Incredibly stretchy, comfortable and durable.
Blue outer Jacket is from Burton. Shoutout to Adam Wylie for the hookup!
The glowing HEATED Jacket I show off is from ORORO wear.

I've been in this situation before. That feeling when you're on your board and someone tries to intimidate you by screaming out pointless banter. It's like a bolt of energy, a bloodrush straight to the brain that fuels our desire to shred. It honestly wouldn't be a perfect ride without the haters. I live and preach Penny Australia's motto; that anyone can skate. Cheers, thanks for the vid!

One of my first couple times riding I was in a park and this group of people about my age (27ish) all get out of their car and the raggety looking one of the group said something probably snarky to me as I passed by, I looked him dead in the eyes and said what’s that? Because I didn’t hear it. And he just smiled and wouldn’t repeat it. Just that pathetic bully that never left his hometown trying to look cool in front of his friends. Wish he would’ve had the balls to say it to my face when confronted

I have once yea. I was in the bike lane and had the right of way (this was in wrigleyville right near the Cubs stadium) and the guy turned left on a green light and hit me. His tire was actually on top on the Onewheel and had to back up so I could remove it. Anyway, my helmet shattered his windshield and I ended up letting the guy go without calling the cops since I wasn’t hurt or anything. Got lucky forsure.

I live in QC, Canada, the Winters are harsh and 3-4 months. I would like to use it in the Winter too, but am concerned about the salt and don't see myself rinsing this all the time. I don't have to ride on wet Winter days to avoid that but there will always be some salt on the road no matter what and then bringing it indoors can activate that. How has yours been? Do you rinse it all the time?

Incredible riding at 19:00. Thanks for the content. Watching your ride through the city with such confidence on the XR makes me wonder if you believe you'd have the same confidence doing the same riding on a Pint; do you have a thought on that; watching your feet vs the feet of Pint riders is strikingly different. Then I wonder if those foot slot things on a Pint would allow one to rip with more confidence on that board since I've never seen those foot slot things on a Pint, yet.
@slydogstroh
@slydogstroh 4 жыл бұрын
Well lucky for you I have a pint and will definitely be posting errand running videos soon. 👍🏼👍🏼
@anonymousastronaut
@anonymousastronaut 4 жыл бұрын
@@slydogstroh Fantastic; can't wait. I'll be curious to see how your feet interact with the board on the Pint. From other riders, who likely have less experience than you, the board seems to ride more unpredictably over uneven terrain. Like, if you were to take the Pint to those Colorado trails, how much more taxing would that ride have been on the Pint vs the XR... Obviously distance and speed are considerations, when comparing the two, but I'm putting those two considerations aside and focusing on rideability / maneuverability / comfort. I would also love to learn more about those things that lock your feet to the board. Seems like with those installed one could jump curbs with ease and generally control the board better when going over bumpy terrain, if athletic and balanced; is that fair to say? Do you prefer riding with or without them, and the fender?

Ever get angry drivers annoyed you're passing them? It's a culture difference between the north and south, but in the south people take it personally if you pass them. (aka "Culture of honor") Always surprises me just how little people seem to care there. Makes riding bikes / boards dangerous where I am (downtown dallas) because they'll often speed up and cut you off if they can just to be in front.
