Iran was the 9th country I visited on my round the world tour. Officially motorcycles over 250cc are illegal in Iran and woman are not allowed to ride. But Iran is a strange country where the law is one thing and the way people interpret it, another. Normally these laws apply to Iranian citizens but not so much to tourists on big bikes. During my stay I didn't have any problems at the border crossings or on the road when stopped by Police... and I was stopped a lot!
Despite how Iran is perceived in the world’s media and how distorted the public’s knowledge of Iran is, It's a stable country, open to tourism, with a low crime rate. All the people I've come across were kind and generous, even the Police! As a woman travelling solo, I've never felt safer than in Iran.
I entered Iran from Turkmenistan and traveled South. This Episode shows my first few days through
Dasht-e Kavir (Salt Desert) from Bojnurd to Yazd.
If you wish to get more details on my stay in Iran check out my blog post:

In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet” because I don't know my final destination or the duration of this journey.
Throughout my journey, I'm raising money for a young disabled child in Poland named Franek. Franek was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (weakness of the entire right side of the body) and he will require constant rehabilitation for the rest of his life. All the money raised will go directly to helping Franek and his family lead as normal a life as possible so please donate generously: gogetfunding.c...

Hi. I was riding in Iran in october 2019. Never heard about the right lane regulation, no more of any road regulation at all. The traffic is wild there, but once you understand there is no rule, you adapt very quickly your riding style. Fine with me: no rule = you are responsible of your life! Loved Iran every minute of the trip!

I'm from Iran, and watching this video brought a sense of nostalgia because people back then weren't able to speak English well. However, now, most people have a good grasp of at least half of the English language. It's heartwarming to see you visiting small villages. Iran has so many beautiful places to visit, and I encourage you to explore more by searching on Google. I hope we can welcome you to Iran soon! Your presence would be greatly appreciated. ❤🙏

the aerial view of Yazd is just fantastic we can see that it's a city that must have a long history we hardly see any skyscraper or high rise apartments blocks it also reflects the wealth and ease in which people lived in the past in modern cities people live an existence of superimposed elements of a sandwich you have a strong personality when traveling off the beaten track continue and be reasonably cautious Bon voyage !

Wonderful video, it brings back so many great memories of travelling through Iran in 2000 on an old R80G/S. I had such a great time in Bam and Iran in general, wonderful people, have a ZamZam for me. One funny story, I was servicing the bike in a garage and went to get a drink across the road with only shorts and tshirt on (it was very hot), the poor hotel owner went pale white trying to explain I needed to wear clothes.

I did some pics during landing of the aircraft in Tapriz without knowing it is also a military used one. I was taken to a security office at the airport and was allowed to leave after 10 hours of investigation. It was up to the security people to put me to jail. So take special care with your drone. You would be surprised. In a country there is always a government with an official agenda and the people. The people most often have no ties with politics and will be friendly and welcome you everytime regardless of what their heads of state is up to. Also in this whole region there's a huge tradition of hospitality. The more unlikely it is, that some certain nation's citizen is visiting their country the more delighted they will be that you did it nonetheless. You can say they appreciate your trouble and effort to do it despite all the circumstances you might have had doing so.

Since the last terrorist attacks on Iranian nuclear scientists, search on KZfaq (puting bomb inside their cars and killing them in front of their wives and children) American and British tourists need to stay in groups. But considering all of that, the visit would be your best experience in life, Americans are loved and respected by people. Iranian know American people are different than American gov. I wish American knew that too and wouldn't let their president call all of us terrorist and ban anyone with Iranian background to visit US, Even if you born in Europe and never saw Iran in your life.

Soli A: I’m from the Netherlands and travelled the world, including Iran. What stays with me of that visit is that most people, especially in the cities were well educated, friendly and helpful. This is in contrast to the common outside view of Iran as a country that only talks about war, strict religion-implied rules, etc. I see the difference between individuals and government of course, but please note that each nation has the government that it has for a reason, so in a way you have the ‘correct’ government. One that fits you as a people and at this moment in time.

I think any person from any where in the world will be safe almost any where in the middle east outside of a war zone like Syria , your media and government would like to scare you , because they are Zionists .

Canaan Noah: I agree with your statement but not with your conclusion because I don’t see the connection. It seems as if you are saying that ‘the government’ does not want ‘us’ to travel to the ME or, in this case to Iran. And they use the media to scare us? Media is pretty independent however; in most of Europe anyway so that won’t work at all. My government has no say in where I travel.

Was waiting for this for a while now. Iran has a new rule now on bikes exceeding 250cc entering their country. Just tell the policeman you have the Ayatollah on speed dial, he will bugger off. Safe ride!

you said: Iran has a new rule now on bikes exceeding 250cc entering their country. I dont know where you live but on earth that means now laws are different and you cant go there again with your bike. AND DARE TO TELL POLICE ABOUT AYATOLLAH ON SPEED DIAL lol they would deport you Saudi Arabia directly. Iranians are nice and warm with polite people. If a person like you with your bad manners and rude attitude faces them all you get is middle finger! No tea or place+food

A few pointers about Iranian men just so you have a good time: 1. Most Iranian people are kind, decent and generous but there are always a few criminals here and there, so do not just trust everyone and enter their secluded home. 2. Remember Iranian men are still men and you're a cute woman, so try not to get too close to them physically, as in hugging them, they may consider that a green light to go further In rural Iran men don't even shake hands with women. 3. Only stay in motels or homes with women in the family, never camp outdoors. 4. Ride in daylight and sleep at night. If you need Farsi-language help ask me and I'll translate for you. Have fun (Petrol station = Pompe-benzin) (Sir, where is the hotel? = Agha, Hotel kojaas?) (Room = otaagh). (Restaurant = Resturaan, food=Ghazaa, Water= aab) (My Bike = Motoram) (Super-Unleaded Fuel = Benzine Super, bedoone sorb) Update: I wrote the paragraph above before watching the whole video and after watching I see that you exactly did what you shouldn't have done, going on an unpaved road out of nowhere, camping out of nowhere, relying on GPS where GPS has no road-update service, etc. Regarding "There was no drivers sign, I didn't know" wouldn't be a good excuse because you should read basic driving rules of the country you're crossing, it's like walking in bikini and saying "I didn't know the hijab rules" :)) The police was trying to tell you "I won't give you a ticket". North Iran by Caspian Lake/sea is much greener and nicer, also West/Northwest Zagros mtn valleys.

Kinga -- I was going to say most of these things that Hesam0000 said until I read his post. He mentioned things for your own safety as you know. I am a German-American who lived in Iran for four years with my Spanish-Moroccan wife and two children. I traveled everywhere and had the most wonderful time while living in Iran. I have been riding motorcycles since 1962 and I have ridden in over one hundred countries. Iran was no exception. I hope you carry basic tools, spare spark plugs, etc., and know everything about fixing flat tires in the middle of nowhere. The Iranian people are warm and friendly. Their food is exquisite. Drinking tea is nearly a ritual and used to show hospitality to family, friends, and visitors. I miss living there and hope to visit once more before I get too old to do so. Continue on your journey and be safe in doing so. If your adventure takes you through the States you have a place to stay, rest, and relax as a guest of my wife and myself in southern rural Colorado. Ride safe and stay safe.

This was awesome. And you topped it off with a drone flight. What a great idea going with a bike, except I don't have the guts to ride bike in Iran.
