Across the 6 weeks I was in japan for sakura, I didnt find much actual sakura flavoured things. Sakura is typically strawberry or cherry labelled or whatever makes it pink coloured. But real sakura doesn't have a lot of flavour self, very mild floral and they add a little salt. I found real sakura ice cream at mount yoshino and pickled sakura flowers (in salt) which was called "sakuracha" in a Kyoto teashop (100/10 love that place)

Thank you for your reaction. I applaud your various challenges. "Sakura" has almost no distinct taste. However, Japanese people enjoy it as a ``feeling''. Mochi with leaves wrapped around it is basically said to taste like cherry blossoms, and the leaves wrapped around it are the leaves of the cherry blossom tree.

As someone who doesn't have an coffee or alcohol requirement to make it through the day, I feel bad for Mudan.

I think it would be accurate to call Sakura an Aesthetic rather than a flavour. It's essentially what Japanese people romanticize about the Sakura season, so the theming and packaging is indicative of the so-called festive spirit. Btw, tough challenge, my eyes hurt now.

To answer a sort of question/comment you had, yes Sakura is a more sweet taste as far as the flavor goes it's not like roses at all.

Sakura does have a flavor, but not really anything that makes it unique or tasty. It's more like a fragrant to your dishes. It's focused towards girls who are into the regular cute and pink things, and now recently the obsessed foreigners. Your best bet to get out of a sakura flavor is to get a "sakura drink," which just tastes like flowers, or just burn a shit ton of sakura petals while eating any food. Westerners, just get some green, brown rice, or matcha tea... it's good for you and has a warming flavor.
