TIL that Lamy, the fountain pen company which makes the pens every German school kid used to learn writing with, was bought up by a Japanese company last month. Thank you, Mudan, even being a nerd I wouldn't have looked up what they're doing these days in a hundred years if not for this video.

Japanese fountain pens are rad as hell. I've switched over to using them instead of ball point because they feel nicer to write with.

Fun fact: the special edition Dark Lilac ink at 1:01 actually caused a bunch of drama in the fountain pen community, because Lamy released a special edition ink in 2016 with the exact same name. Lamy's U.S. branch told their customers that this new Dark Lilac was the same as the 2016 version, but the German Lamy confirmed that it was a different formulation.

Another interesting stationary/general store is the brand Loft. There's a large, multi-story Loft in Ginza just a street over from this Itoya location. It has several floors of different types of merchandise (make up, home goods, stationary, etc). Highly recommended. I think the ginza store is the largest one. The rest are normally 1 store/floor sized

Itoya was a little too fancy for me. Find me in the Daiso Stationary section instead, or Tokyu Hands. But it was a lot of fun to see all the German pen and pencil brands for like double the price.

You should go to the Starbucks reserve in Tokyo and compare it to Blue Bottle Coffee! Get there early though as you'll need to queue for the line. Luckily it's a digital queue using the QR code up front, but you'll probably need to hang around for an hour or two (depends on the day).

I don't know if it's an artist thing or I'm just that picky with erasers. I'm not a big fan of those cute erasers. Bcs I'll end up having them as little figures on my desk instead of using them as erasers 😅 I use those Mono or Stadler white Erasers which r my fav to use for drawing

There was no Tech items here! No AI pencils with teleportation or AI erase your life pencils! But for Marimekko and Muumi I have to give 10 points. Daily dose of Mudan --> ST = ST + 5. But Actually in the end... the last five seconds.. there were a lot of nerd stuff!!!
