I'd happily live in the cottage near The Gnomes Legs, especially with all those trains running behind 😀

It’s refreshing to hear some like minded ideas on model railways.the essence of the hobby was to drive “children’s “ imagination,so I to like the anything goes approach……I do marvel at other’s dedication to detail right enough, but who doesn’t enjoy running all sorts. Keep going Bill.

Great start on your new layout Bill, it's really coming together. When Jet Petrol first appeared on the scene you could buy 4 gallons for a pound! So will your pub be selling there beer for less than 10p a pint!!! Might even put in a bid for the proposed house next to the pub. Cheap beer, cheap petrol and time to watch the trains go by ( passing day dream!!!) Nice one Bill.

"It's too modern". You'd never even satify the absolute rivet counters even if it was a perfect copy of a real garage. Your layout, your rule 1, your enjoyment 😄

The Gnomes Legs is a great pub, it's only a short walk....

I love that pub. Using foam as a basebord really shows its worth when it comes to creating that 'lay of the land' feeling. My own layout is chronologically liberal too.

Who would live in a house just down the road from the Gnomes Legs & a Jet Garage? The Village drunk who is hoping to get his licence back!

First class modelling.... I particularly like the large tree right by the "Gnomes Legs".... 👍✅

1:30 I spent 20 years in the motor fuel industry and I'd never heard them called totems before. I always knew them as pole signs. It may well be a regional thing. You need some manholes for the tanker deliveries 🤣👍

Looking good, Bill! Those close-coupled coaches are the business, as well!

Looking good, great name for the pub.Considering how far you have got in 6 months I would not be worrying about the rate of progress! I have got less far with a smaller layout in 12 months..

Great jod Bill. I think that your approach of working on one area at a time is best. I have 5 Layouts in various stages on non completeness. You're actually progressing very quickly compared to most. Good work. Happy Modelling Mon

The pub and garage are looking great. Are you going to be putting the fuel prices up on a daily basis as in real life?! The little bridge is the best bit though, it looks absolutely brilliant. Does the road flood in wet weather? Your videos are great and I look forward to the next. All the best.

A niggle with the whole "Gardner's Arms / Gnome's Legs" naming thing is that "arms" in pub names doesn't generally refer to anatomical parts but rather to a coat of arms, i.e. armorial bearings. I remember on a family holiday in my youth we encountered a pub in Devon called the Sexy Arms (well... it was actually spelled 'Sexey', I think).

Hi Bill, You said it feels like it's taking forever, but I think you've made rapid progress on the layout and the sections you've landscaped are looking good. BTW that's a very impressive oak tree by the pub, I don't remember it on the old layout. Is it a new addition and if so is it homemade or shop bought? P.S. I thought the pub's name was on account of the number of gnomes that got legless there!🥴😁

That's one thing with building a layout, they make excellent shelves! I have an additional "layer" of shelves for storage under my layout. Did I plan it and do that first, did I hell! ;-) Cheers

Sorry to repeat myself, but even for a heritage layout with no particular timeline, one or 2 vintage vehicles would not go amiss. Having said that, the overall effect is looking great. I can't wait to see some more
