I am so sorry you loss your grandma. I often make different recipes or do things that remind me of the loved one who is no longer here. Thank you Jessica! I am unsure of what temperature you would want to use with a different sized pan. If you use a different sized pan, you will want to watch it to ensure it won't burn. You can bake it in anything you prefer but just make the necessary adjustments to the baking time. I hope this helps. Have an amazing rest of your evening!!😁

In Philly, I don't remember them putting powdered sugar on top. When I saw the picture of your cake, that is what I remembered.

So I finally made your recipe. Actually I've made it twice. First time I forgot to put the vanilla extract in it. It was good. The second one was much better. I did bake the butter cake for 35 minutes and it was even ooey, gooeyer. Thank you again.

Continued) i decided to make a sweet potato gooey cake for Thanksgiving!. It was a big hit. I added a cup and a half of mashed sweet potato to cream cheese mixture and baked as per recipe.

This is NOT butter cake it's GOOEY butter cake. Very different. And it certainly was invented in st louis.

Hello👋🏾 I haven’t had this happen to me…perhaps you could use parchment paper on top of the dough when you a pressing it into the pan to prevent it sticking to your hands. I hope this helps😊

Me too, I let mine sit for a bit. Then, it seemed like it was easier to work with. But, I think I may try the parchment paper next time.

@@dianesdelightsrecipecooking I'll bet that your cake is delicious but I like a really runny buttercake. Bakery's here in Pa make a runny cake where when you cut a piece out, the butter oozes out and fills the empty spot from the piece. My wife has tried to make a runny buttercake but cant find a recipe. No disrespect intended as I am sure your cake is good.

My apologies, I have never had a butter cake that was like the one you describe. Back home in STL, they were never that way, but I won't knock it until I try it.
