Yes - another great episode - it always amazes me all te different techniques there are for creating roads - I love the use of sand and the different colours mixed together

Fantastic sometimes just doing little details can be all you need to scratch the itch without running any trains. Can’t wait to see how this turns out!!

All those crumbly bits are perfect for sowing a few weeds, especially around the buildings or creating muddy patches

Really good episode Tris, for the road, you could try a thin wash of acrylic black/ burnt umber with some fairy liquid drops in to break down the surface tension

"We'll do the fun bit, add the ballast" What? That's one of the dullest parts for me. 😁 I know what you meant, adding detail to make it look real. You really are doing a great job on this little layout. For roads, my current technique is splashing paint on and then sprinkling tile grout over it. After vacuuming the excess off it leaves a nice texture. Then different grey washes to make it look even more realistic.

Another nice episode and good to see a bit more. Have you ever tried texturing foamex? Back in college we used to cut our road/ path out of it, sprinkle on some course sand and small gravel, add a cloth and then use a roller over it. When it's all removed you can get a nice well used/ pot holed surface to then paint up. :) Will you be at the Doncaster model railway show next month? :)

Enjoyed the video but the lighting meant that the rad was just blank white for a lot of the time so couldn't really see any detail of what was going on. Usually your videos are fine and noone else commented on this so maybe it was just me. Shame as I am enjoying this series. Ian PS just watched the video on the phone and it looks fine so it was watching it on the TV that affected the contrast.

Why not name your shunting layout-Hatton’s’ Fuel Works as a dedication & memorial to Hatton’s Model Railways that will be closing very soon that was announced recently. I think so because atleast it can live on this micro layout. But that’s up to you.
