Just doing my homework in preparation for my WorkBee arriving in the next couple of weeks, and finding your videos very helpful. Won't your z-axis calibration method be overly corrupted by any errors in the job zeroing? Would it not be preferable to cut one recess, say, 1 mm deep and a second 6 mm deep, and measure the difference (z_th = 5 mm)?

Hi, thanks for your comment, yes that would work well too!

Hi Ryan. Great video. I think my workbee might not be square or out of calibration. Ill follow the video and see if i can get it set. Reason I say is im getting some chatter when going around rounded corners. I figure it might be a calibration issue.

Hey, hope the video helps. It could also be that speed you are running at, it could be too slow. What speed are you going at?

Hi Ryan, have you had any experience with sound reduction enclosures of CNCs? I live in a dense built up neighbourhood and I am worried about complaints.

Hi Gabriel, We built an enclosure for our WorkBee using aluminium extrusion found on our site: ooznest.co.uk/product-category/parts/mechanical-parts/v-slot-extrusions/ - also we will be releasing a kit for an enclosure on our website in the next 6 weeks or so. Thanks.

Thanks for the video. I did this and resent the gcode to recut it again and my cnc started cutting it but it’s like a quarter the size that it was before. What did I do wrong?

Some machines use 800 as theoretical value. Just recalculate with 800

Should I be doing this for my belt driven machine as well?

Yes that is correct.

@@ooznest ok so same principle just diffrent number due to the value not being 200 on the belts

How about write down the calculations and were you get the number and a unit would be lovely. 100 and 200 what mm, inch or elephants you cant tell.

I am just wondering why you do this by cutting and not just by jogging? I just removed my bit moved the machine into an spot which aloowed for exact measurement than jogged the machine in 10mm increments and calculated those, than jogged in 50mm increments, than in 200mm increments. After the 50mm jog it is near perfect and 200 does not need to much adjustment. The difference here is i do not cut a piece of metal and calibration is only minutes without any cuts. I am interested if there is any difference in doing this while cutting, instead of in free air.

That is a valid method to calibrate it! We made a video on the above as that is how we calibrate our machines in house

Hey Ryan. I wonder if You can help. My Ooznest Ox, belt drive.. my Y axis .. it's 1mm out on the left rail. Can you tell me how to adjust that or why that happens? It's square and the belt tension seems good. Tried to loosen the belts and re tension, bit it's always 1mm out. Any ideas?

Hi Rob, have you checked that the wheels are not too tight, and thus causing too much friction?
