The Audi R8 V10 Quattro sure is a quick supercar. However, this modified 400+hp Opel Speedster is giving it a hard time!

I had one and theres no way a standard one would beat that Audi. I think it's at least 300bhp which is 100bhp more than a standard one

Wow, nice, to see an Opel Speedster on a dragtrack. I remember, 20 years ago, when i just got my drivers licence 1 year, my best friend, who was a trainee at a local, big Opel-dealer in Bielefeld, Germany, fetched me up on a friday evening with a silver (normal 147hp-) Speedster. It was amazing, as we knew, that this car from Lotus (Elise) is such a good lightweight performance-car. And it was stunning quick for that time! We drove some serpentines and were forced to impress others, just by filling up at the petrol station. At this time, Opel already lost their positive image in the public, but at that eve, it was maybe the coolest and most futuristic car on this planet. It's soo low. Others may thought, it was an UFO from outer space.😅 We could have tried to impress at another petrol station (where illegal street races famously took place) or could have tried to impress girls a bit😉, but we simply choose to drive the best route. We both young guys und the car. Real passion for cars (but with responsibility). I am not that Opel-Fan at all (my parents worked in Wolfsburg before i was born), but i love this car. Thanx for sharing and bringing me back some memories, Lars! 😊👍

@@mr_ilanovic5955 cant be 650 hp with high 11 second trap speed. Most likely around 400 Hp with such low weight.

These're pretty sick. Even with the stock 2L turbo at 200HP they go 0-60 in 5.2 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than a BMW 335i with 306HP. They're so lightweight and the weight that it does have is on the rear wheels (over 60% of it) as it's a mid-engine car so it grips up extremely well during acceleration even after adding extra power. Of course this one's tuned to 400+ hp but even then it's beating an AWD 500+ horsepower car on a cold track. C20LET is a great engine and easily modified to 300+ hp on stock internals. The Speedster could probably squeeze some more power out of it as it will have aftermarket internals at this point, kinda makes it hard to drive though. Ruins the grip to power ratio it has and brings a huge amount of turbo lag.

Actually a stock 2L Turbo VX220/Speedster has a 0-60 time of 4.7s. The 2.2L NA manages 5.6s (with only 145 BHP!).

They are around the same as the Elise models from the time (the Elise is lighter). Once you get to about 250hp+ in the old Elises they start to get really quick.

My Speedster with 260hp and 445nm goes from 0 to 100 in 3,9 and hits easily 260kmh on TomTom. It has no turbo lag at all and is very easy to drive. You can do nothing wrong under acceleration from standstill, because it has a lot of traction on the rear wheels. It's only very tricky in the rain.. When I go on holiday with it I take all the mountain passes in Switzerland, Austria, France and Italy. Big fun with this car. It's simply a better Elise. I also own an Esprit and I test drive an Exige with 350hp. Still the Speedster delivers more fun and is even faster as the Exige.

No he starts at the exactly right time, if he jumps the start the start signal/light will disqualify him

I had the XV220T and it was fast with a great engine. However, that's it had going for it; leaked, rattled, rubbish suspension and ventilation. Sold it after 6 months.

but how noob to be to get 12.4 with r8 v10 (AWD)?!.. or to be HUMILIATED on 60ft by a remapped stock speedster 2.0turbo (RWD). R8 driver not only fall in sleep everytime at start, but i think he doesn't know to launch without car launch system🤣
