In this video the 6.0 Bros review the difference in air intake temps from an open element filter and a factory 6.7 Powerstroke filter. This is a sample size of 1 and I will likely redo the test at a later date. At least for this first test it showed that there was virtually no difference in air intake temp!

I have a aftermarket on my 6.0 and I am thinking about putting the factor one back on just because it does get air from outside the engine compartment

I plan to test this in my 6.0 as well, but there is air coming from outside to the engine bay and the intake area. I believe that almost identical results of intake air temp would be had plus the open element style will pull in significantly more air making it easier on your turbo. At some point I will test it but I feel confident in this answer. Not that the factory one is bad it isn't, but just a tad more restrictive

I use a S&B intake with a aftermarket Amerihood SSK model that seals to the CAI, after a slight modification. It did cost a $1k for both. But it's sealed from the heat a can only drawl air from the atmosphere.

I like the hoods with the intake vents on them. Though especially woth your setup even without it sealing up to the hood I think you would be hard pressed to see any significant difference in air temps if any at all at speed

Any one know a good affordable 6.0 mechanic in San Bernardino county California? Got head studs and kdd heads now truck smokes more then normal If I unplug the egr it cleans up but still smokes a lil more then it should

@user-ps3qn8qs3l what color is the smoke? Is it smoking at idle? Is it a whitish haze

@@six0bros tbh it’s light haze kind grey but turns dark once u give a lil fuel. I pulled down pipe and checked turbo. There is low oil just carbon

I run a hot air on my 6.0. I cant recall the brand of the actual filter or the cloth cover think big brut maybe? Idk I pilfered it off a 7.3 so had to fabricate a hole , mount and seal my MAF sensor with electrical tape then pieced together half of the intake tubing with some pluming shit kicking around my garage. Honestly i can't tell yeah if my performance is up or down For all I know Im sand blasting my valves. But I do knowis it looks better and I never wanna deal with those stupid fuckin factory metal clips ever again. I musta lost atleast few dozen clips over the years

The 6.0 factory filter is a pain to get In and out. It filters really well but it's also very very restrictive. I feel very confident the open filters are just fine on a 6.0 powerstroke. I will also do a similar test on the 6.0 when it's back and test again doing a zoodad mod as well
