With it running, what does the pressure in the crankcase look like when you pull the oil fill cap?
@six0brosКүн бұрын
no pressure but some steam coming off. today I gutted the ccv filter. We will see how that does. I just need to address one more oil leak on passenger side valve cover/ rocker box. Upgrading your egr keeps you out of trouble so I recommend checking out one of bpd setup for that. I will say while doing that I would also grab an odawg s2r Intake manifold. My advice to others: 1. NEVER do DIY engine kits like build-in-a-box or whatever. Either buy a long block or a full running assembly and have the certified shop install it. Stay inside the QC trail. 2) I don’t care where you’ve bought your heads from, every head needs to be machined and prepped before installation. Yes, even Icon heads. These are big investments. Protect yourself from unnecessary risk and be smart! This is sad!
@six0bros27 күн бұрын
After everything I have been through I could not agree more. the build in a box I have come to realize is a bad idea. its easy for everyone involved in the build to duck out and say not our issue which seems to be some of what I am dealing with pretty much on all front of the build. I wish I wouldn't have listened to the shop when they said don't buy the short block just get the build in a box. I also believe not having my heads double checked by a local machine shop has cost me the first engine and was the reason this build needed to go back in. I am planning on doing a video talking about what I have learned in this build process so people can learn from mistakes I have made, and hopefully save them the thousands I lost. You're spot on with your advice man!

I’m using ITS diesel 100psi map sensor. All you have to do is plug and play it right into your factory location. And have your tuner re scale the gauge reading in the tunes. And boom you have accurate numbers up to 100psi 👌
@six0bros27 күн бұрын
First he is a good guy. I love what he has done with that. I want to review it in the future. It is a super clean look he has on it too. My only reason for wanting an independent sensor has to do with some tuner manipulating this value, amd I have had this kit sitting around waiting for my truck to come back lol. I'm going to work on getting a back pressure sensor on my truck also this way, but that has more to do with reviewing turbos and wanting values that didn't get through the ecm/pcm. However I do recommend ITS kit as it is one of the best ideas I have seen
@rcwildman925527 күн бұрын
@@six0brosfor sure, I have the sct3 myself. The add on kits are pretty pricy 😅 I do have the egt probe though. But gearhead and blessed performance can re write your exiting tunes to the new correct map values. In his kit he gives the new values to give them to run it properly. @six0bros27 күн бұрын
This engine was not abused. In fact it had very few miles on it there was an issue with a leaking valve seal, and potentially some issue with the head or rocker box that caused this. The leaking radiator was from it sitting. Unfortunate there were issue outside my control that led to many of the issues. I assure you few people take care of a vehicle as well as I do, and even though I will push this truck pretty hard once the engine is broken in I haven't abused it.

Just seems sluggish when cold. Its also a rough ride, like no suspension lol. Also has the Death wobble, happened to me twice, so I'm careful to avoid big potholes or bridge seams.

@superdave2316Ай бұрын
I have an F250 and an F450 both with 6.0 engines. Here is my advice; forget the monitors. Install the blue spring to raise your fuel pressure and forget about it. Backflush your coolant system every two years (using only distilled water and the CAT rated coolant) and then forget about your oil cooler. Don't program your engine or put a bigger turbo on it and you can forget about your head bolts. Keep good shocks and normal tires on it and your steering parts will last. It's my experience that the owners of these trucks are their own worst enemies. You aren't an engineer so why screw with it? With good maintenance the 6.0 is the second best diesel Ford ever used (second to the 7.3) so leave it alone and enjoy it.

He sold the truck about a year later but it was running good still after. As for the number of turbos prior I was taking his word for it.
