I think it is funny how some people worry about scratch's and marks on a working knife. If you use it you will get them.

I put those on my Buck about 10 years ago. What a game changer. Once it was where I liked, I did a small dimple and some locktite. Just a solution that Buck should have done from the factor. Buck 11x Series are the original tactical folders. I know some military instructors/trainers I had in the early 80's had carried them in Vietnam. Just a solid, reliable, heavy knife that holds an edge.

I have had one of these studs on my Buck 110 for a couple of years now, and I was not impressed. I had positioned it about an inch from the locking pin ledge. After watching your video, I moved it to the same position as yours, and it now much easier to use with these very old arthritic hands. Thank you.

Yes, it helps me to have it a little closer to my thumb. I have small hands. I think I like it better on my Buck 112 than my Buck 110

I think a brass set screw would cause the stud to fall right off. Im glad its hard enough to penetrate the blade and stay. Ill be ordering one

This is probably the best aftermarket solution available. Unlike other methods-this one is completely user adjustable and does not require the blade to be open to assist with the opening initially.

I came here from the EDC sheath videos - was all "Ooops, that ain't going to work..." I'm glad you made another sheath to accommodate the thumb stud.

If Buck would address this issue on their end, users wouldnt have to add these things at all. Makes the blade look like a shark, wearing ear muffs.

I would tigjten it down. Don't want to lose the quick stud. Also I really like those knives and the affordable prices on them under the thumb stud link. Thanks.

Thanks for the comment! Glad the link helped. Yes, I have an aversion to over-tightening things (stripped out too many threads), but you're right, it should be good and tight.

Thanks for the detailed look; I’d wondered about these. It looks a bit odd to the eye, but that’s just because you’re not used to seeing a Buck with studs. It definitely makes the knife more functional. Like you I wish the set screw was brass. BTW, Simichrome or Flitz will polish out those blade marks easily. That’s 420HC, so I wonder if it would even leave a mark on the BOS S30V 110’s and 112’s?

Yeah, I thought it looked silly at first but it’s kind of grown on me.

@@wyomingwright I might try it, they make a chrome one as well which would match a 110 I have. They also make a bar, but I’ve read poor reviews on that, as material can get between the bar and the blade.

I had some of those on my 110 for a while and it was great having it on there all but I dropped it and it fell off and ngl just opening it one handed is a quick but it is handy sometimes

Does the thumb stud get in the way of sharpening the blade?

I think the box for the "thumb stud" is ridiculously large. Shame on you Amazon.

I agree

It looks rather large. Bought a few anyway just to check them out. LOL.
