I realize last night while editing a school play, you can just open your video with Audacity, and it automatically just opens the audio track from the video file so you no longer have to extract the audio first 😃

there is a easier way, right click the video, click properties then scroll down and change volume to 0.00, it saves downloading vlc player or a sound removal software if you dont have it already.

Hello, nice video, I have a tip for you that is, first of all finish you're all editing and then you save your project and export it as audio, then you reduce the noise of that audio file that you have exported, then import the cleaner audio in your project/ openshot. Then mute your video tab and add external audio, then you export the video. By doing this, you don't need to cut video and audio at the same spot and time. Thank you.

Thanks for all the great tutorials. However, just as a bit of constructive criticism, I think the title of this video is slightly misleading. It says "How to Remove Background Audio in OpenShot", although you never actually removed any background noise in OpenShot. You did that in an external software (Audacity in this case), and then brought that audio back into OpenShot. This is not the same thing as "removing background noise/audio *in OpenShot*", since OpenShot is not the software that processed the audio and actually removed the background noise. A better title for the video would perhaps be something like: "How to import pre-processed audio files into OpenShot" Some people might consider me to be a bit too picky here, but I don't think I am. Because with the current video title, people will think that they are about to watch a tutorial on how to use OpenShot to remove audio noise by actually processing the audio within OpenShot itself. What you demonstrated in this video is of course nevertheless a good and valid technique, but it's not something that applies only to OpenShot. You can import pre-processed audio clips into any video editor. The only thing that was specific to OpenShot in this video was the actual importing of the pre-processed audio file (as importing can be different in different editors), as well as a few other things like turning on the audio waveforms inside the tracks. The reason I clicked on this video was because that, based on the title of the video, I thought that OpenShot had some kind of hidden audio filter tools that I somehow had missed when using the software. But it turned out to just be an inaccurate title for the video. Too bad. I will check out some more of your video editing tutorials after posting this comment. Hopefully they will have a more accurate video title than this one, hehe. ;-P By the way, I think this video provides a good example of how limited OpenShot actually is as a video editing software. I've tried to use OpenShot before, but it didn't take long before I gave up on it due to the fact that it's simply too basic in its features, and unfortunately not a very capable video editor. Any decent video editing software should at least have some basic audio filters that you can apply to the audio tracks and/or clips. I'm pretty sure that most of the more sophisticated video editing applications out there can do this. DaVinci Resolve can definitely do it, and it probably shouldn't be any problem with other professional editing applications as well like for example Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Sony Vegas, and Avid Media Composer. Thanks for all the good work with the tutorials. I will take a look at your Kdenlive tutorials now, since I've never used it before and am curious what it has to offer and how capable it is.

open your video in AUDACITY, then you can spectrograph analyze the room tone audio (best to get 30 seconds of room tone at the front of your video) then you can use the auto matic filter in Audacity to filter out the room tone in your total audio, or you can look at the spectrograph and use a high pass filter to cut the loud low freq. sounds.

In Filmora to group different parts of Audio, I first finalize whole video content like cutting merging transitioning and all apart from audio part and then I export audio mp3/mp4 which combines all parts in one and then I would use Audacity to remove BG noise and re import it in to Filmora again. Hope it helps.. :)

hey, I had long video (60 minutes) cutted it into 6 parts of 30 secs. who can I permanently finalize these 6 parts? because all these 6 parts are still full original video (6 original videos). I want real cuts with no ability to extend move seconds/minutes to it.... I mean the parts should not be attached to original video behind the scene... i hope you understand... thx

when i edit and post a video on youtube, there is sone static noise thats comes along the video. I reduced the volume, and it was very much better. But you can still hear it some times. Any fix?

New to OpenShot. I laid in the same video twice. In one track I disabled the video, in the other, parallel to the first, I disabled the audio. On the latter, I had to cut out single frames here and there and did not want the audio to be affected (synchronicity per se is not an issue, there is only a score for the audio). I don't understand why the sound, though disabled on the video-only track, remains present there during the approx. first 1/3 of the shtick. What am I doing wrong?

At least with MOV files you and search them and directly fetch them to Audacity which brings on the audio waveform without VLC. I have exracted some youtube videos to mere sound in this way as well.

The way you use VLC to extract audio is OK but it needs reencoding, which in some cases produce lower quality audio track. The second thing is the longer time it takes to reencode the longer clip. Right? I would suggest you to try ffmpeg to PEEL audio or video track directly from the original clip. No need to re-encode any track!! You just select the track you want and COPY ONLY the desired track. ffmpeg is the base-libraries most free & commercial softwares used to process video, including VLC. It's free too, hurey!!! The only problem is ffmpeg is command line tool, you need to learn a lot of options & arguments. For a short example: you have myVideo.MP4 containing 2 tracks, i.e. one H.264 video track, one AAC audio track. Type this... ffmpeg -i myVideo.MP4 -vn -c copy myAudio.AAC and you get your audio exactly the same quality as the original because you just peeled it off, not re-encode. ------------- To solve the other problem. To sprite your clip easier just make another clip with ONLY noiseless audio. After you cleaned background noise you get another audio files, says "Noiseless.MP3". You just peel the video track from myVideo.MP4 and combine it with Noiseless.MP3. ffmpeg -i myVideo.MP4 -i Noiseless.MP3 -map 0:v -map 1:a -c copy CleanAudio.MP4 This results in CleanAudio.MP4 with only original video track and noiseless audio track. Noted that it contains the ORIGINAL video & audio track from both inputs as the command '-c copy' says just copy not re-encode. But if you forget '-c copy' part, ffmpeg will reencode CleanAudio.MP4 which in most cases take longer time than copying. Hope this helps a bit.
