Christopher Nolan is a great filmmaker. Oppenheimer movie is great! Still someone found a slight slip in historical accuracy in the movie. In one of the scenes where the American flag is shown, it showed 50 stars. At that time (1945) America didn’t had 50 states. There were only 48 states at the time, so 48 stars. Good eye Andy Craig for spotting it!

It's important to note that Oppenheimer is not only father of Nuclear Bomb. But he's father of Blackhole Physics too. Infact his contributions like Oppenheimer Snyder Dutt Collapse (Gravitational Collapse of homogeneous dust cloud) laid foundations of Blackhole Physics.

Thanks a lot for this. I was wondering why didn't they show some of the technical aspects of Manhattan Project in Oppenheimer movie. That would have been so interesting for science enthusiastics. Instead they concentrated more on the motional part. Interstellar had many scientific notions.

Plutonium is a naturally occuring element, but now its not naturally available in earth because of its extremely short half life. Interstellar space spectrum shows existence of a particular isotope,plutonium 244.

Fat man was more powerful than little man. But Little man was more effective. This is because Nagasaki had a hilly terrain. So the impact of the blast did not travel too long it was blocked by terrain features. Hiroshima was flat. So the impact of blast reached far distances. More over Nagasaki was not the indented target. Fat man was indented for Kokura. Due to bad weather, the plane could not find the city. After three attempt they switched to secondary target. That was Nagasaki

Uranium 238 does not directly become Plutonium 239.There are 2 stages in between. in each stages it emit Beta radiation. This increases the number of proton in its nucleus and hence changes its Atomic number. That means, the element is changed. from 92 its atomic number becomes 94. so Plutonium.
