This is not tridentine 1962 Mass. This is The Traditional Catholic Latin Mass of the Roman Rite (Pre-55 rite; as distinguished to Pope Paul vi New Rite he pushed to SSPX Archbishop Lefebvre & others and now they call it tridentine???). So that people may know the difference.

How could anyone not be moved by this, movie scene thought it might be. I am not Catholic (at least in the sense most Catholics would view the term today) and even I AM moved to desire the Catholic priesthood when viewing such splendor. To the comment on this thread that associated the priesthood with a den of pedophiles - you are both right and wrong. No doubt the Catholic priesthood, Protestant ministry, Jewish Rabbinate, Muslim Imanate, Orthodox priesthood, Hindu Brahminate and Sadhu-hood, and Buddhist monk-hood and priesthood have their fair share of predators. There are always predators where a power-differential exists whether in the religious realm or the secular. I and other people moved by scenes similar to this one share your anger, rage, and disgust at hearing of religious or secular authority figures, parents - anyone with the ostensible commission to help safe-guard, teach, and guide children or anyone of any age - not only failing at their duty of development and helpful guidance but abusing, tormenting, torturing, and hurting their charges. There are many Catholic priests who share your disgust as well I am sure. However, to me at least, this interlude - aesthetically, vocally, and musically - represents the best of what religious duty SHOULD be - the FARTHEST thing from bent clergy or "bent" anyone. It is beauty for its own sake and that is why I enjoy seeing it and why it is so compelling and wonderful.
