This year's Christmas celebration requires something special. So special that I had to dip into the old recipe box to make something nostalgic from my childhood.
"Oreshki" in Russian means "Nuts" and since they resemble walnuts I call them the Walnut cookies. These cookies were very popular during the soviet time and were made only on special holidays.

These nut cookies are absolute delicacy! I remember that they always would fly out from table first, before any other cookie or any other dessert 😀 🍰

I just love it, here in Brazil we cook the can of condensed milk in the pressure cooker for about 45 minutes and we call it "doce de leite", we use it to fill birthday cakes too haha, just amazing flavor

I have ordered a oreshki iron from Amazon. I hope to make them for Christmas this year. I worked with a few Men from Russia for many years. They would bring this cookie and other wonderful Russian food items to work for special events (Christmas, birthdays, …). Their wives made them. I have always like cooking and baking. love you Video's.

@@lulishomestead6767 yes I do make them not every year . In the past I made them all the time . My recipe is different for dough and for icing . I add nuts to my dough and icing. Your icing much easier and faster though then mine.

watching while making it, we had a a similar oreshki maker in russia but it had a christmas tree and a pinecone shape as well. now I have an electric oreshki iron, can be found on amazon or even some euro stores

It is much easier using the metal form, however, making foil small balls and placing a small amount of dough around. After baked form walnuts

Thank you for the video. I do love these cookies and have made them before, however I had alot of butter running out of the mold and onto the stove and it made it very smokey. Any helpful tips out there???

What about the ones that you made using aluminium foil?For how long do you bake them as I have some individual shapes for these cookies but never used them?!Otherwise everything looks great!

Hi Elena, baking time is the same, however, it depends on the temperature of you stove top. As you see, I am using stove top method. I would suggest trying a couple and see how it goes, making adjustments as necessary.

I made the caramel, after mixing the butter it was so runny… you didn’t mention how much butter do we add to the caramel..

It is not caramel. It is Dulce de Leche (Cooked Condensed milk)

I have a question .. i always brush the machine with oil but the dough still sticks to it and it all get ruined !! What's the problem ?? is there something wrong with the dough or the heat ? even tho i put it in low heat !! please help
