Are organ meats healthy or not? Watch this video to find out...
Animal organs have a tremendous amount of vitamins and minerals, some even higher than sprouts and cruciferous vegetables which are known for their high quantities of vitamins and mineral contents.
Organ meats are also great for dogs and Dr. Eric Berg explains how dog food can be mostly grains and not be what your dog needs and wants in a meal.

Many traditional cuisines use internal organs quite widely. It's Americans that haven't figured out what is good and what is not good to eat. American food science is way too young, easily excitable and, unfortunately, easily misguided by the corporate and political interests. The best way to eat healthy - go back to one's ancestral cuisine. Remember, we did not fall from the sky, we are a result of millennia of evolution of out respective tribes. Even if we forgot about our ancestry.

The early hunters would give the liver and other organs to their most respected members. Leaner cuts of meat were thrown to the dogs. I'm 95% carnivore at age 54 and no medications. I had several medical issues that are common for males my age ( prediabetic, gout, back pain, migraines) and they're all gone in 6 months of carnivory. Also went from 230 to 160....still 160 for 3 years now. Insulin is the problem.

Fry up onions and garlic in bacon fat. Put the bacon aside. You'll add it later. Add in the liver. When it's ready, it will stop bleeding. Finish it with butter and add in the bacon. Everything grass fed. You can use this recipe to cook a leather, grass fed shoe and it will taste great. Liver done this way takes on a sweet flavor. Most likely from the starches in the onion. Serve with spinach and red beats. Or fried cabbage and sweet potatoes.

Now he has so much more energy, tumors shrinking, his eyes are bright and clear with no more discharge, coat looks vibrant, his joint pain is virtually gone, very happy fellow! There was a detox period during this transition keep in mind! But all very worth it!

My dog who just turned 9 was just diagnosed with diabetes and has gotten cataracts that has basically made him blind in under 5 days. I have taken him off carbs and just feed him ground beef, chicken, fish, and occasionally cucumber or broccoli stems as a snack. I hope this helps prolong his life. I doubt the cataracts can be reversed without surgery but I am saving up $$ for that!

I healed my stomach after gastritis with Tripe. I mean my stomach got so weak that after eating i feel like my stomach cant hold the food in one place and often gas traps in stomach and it just wont get out and i feel really bad and nauseas when that happened and then comes the heart burn. I even tried Kefir Milk but it also was not doing what i wanted. So one day some grandpa kinda a guy told me to eat Tripe so I said lets try it before i die of depression. And i was shocked how fast Tripe healed my stomach. It immediately affected me and just eating 600g of Tripe in 2 days. I started feeling really good. I could also eat spice food when Tripe and it does not affect my stomach. Tripe is awesome really.

Wow - can't believe you've never eaten "organ meats", or Offal as its called here in the UK. I regularly buy lambs liver from my local farm shop and lamb kidneys. Liver and onions, cooked so the liver is just pink - wow. It is a much milder taste than pig or ox liver. Also steak and kidney pie - one of our traditional meals. We are so lucky that all the meat is grass fed.

This just popped into my Rec list. The only food that I could not overcome the taste was liver (mostly as a child). Ironically, I did like store bought liverwurst. Two days ago I made my first homemade liverwurst, I used fresh frozen, grass fed beef liver from a local rancher. I included a higher percentage of liver to other good ingredients to increase the health benefits while keeping it from overpowering the recipe (I believe chicken liver would be more even more palatable). Though a slow process, I was able to warm up to it, in fact, I can honestly report that I like it and will certainly make it again. After filling short, wide, pint sized mason jars, I poured a shallow layer of grass fed butter on top to create a tasty seal. It keeps in the fridge for weeks or months when done properly. My favorite way to enjoy it is on keto crackers with a dab of good mustard. EVEN my own KIDS said, “Hey, this isn’t bad at all!” It was such a good experience, I’d like to share it with many folks. Next, I’m going to adventure with using sous vide and then smoking a beef heart. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼 It’s worth the effort, last week the scale said I was 103 pounds healthier. Combined, my wife, daughter & I have lost over 200 lbs in 9 months.

In used to hate beef liver, until my grandma told me I had to soak it in clean water for a few hours and it releases The blood. The meat then looks more pale and grey. This will make it taste way better! We cook it with a splash of olive oil in a hot pan and place onions cut in rings. Toss that around a but then add the liver with just salt as seasoning. If you are really deficient int nutrients you can get lightheaded or have headaches after eating liver. I love liver and gizzards, beef heart, beef tongue. I will randomly crave Organ meats, they also say its because you are low on nutrients and your body craves The food that has given you those nutrients before. Beef tongue tacos with green salsa is MUst try!!!

Hi Dr. Berg. I know you get millions of comments and probably won’t see this. My family always uses your advice for good health. I’m consuming lots of organ meats but being from the older generation, I love them. Just a note, as former USA citizens, we now permanently live in Portugal where grass fed meats are unheard of. That being sai, Portugal has superior quality food compared the USA. Maybe you could include Europe in some of your comments. Thanks! Keep up the good work. Many of us rely on your information.

I think that an easy recipe that I like is to take chicken heart and chicken breast. (So it is a MIN-MAX strategy for dark and whiteness of the meat. Normies use chicken thigh instead of heart, you can start trying heart instead.) and make your favorite kind of chicken noodle and/or chicken corn or chicken rice or creamy chicken soup or whatever. I like it with an onion, a lot of herbs from my garden, corn, carrots, salt, butter, pepper. Also sear the meat before adding and deglaze the pan with a beer or water for some concentrated flavor. Be sure to simmer enough to remove alcohol.

As always Eric, Looooove your videos :-) I have followed you for a few mounts and I see your videos every day :-) I am so grateful for everything you learn me :-) About our dogs (and cats diet). I love that you mention that because many pet owners does not have the knowledge about what a dog or a cat needs to eat. The most important is not to give our dogs our food with to much salt in it and absolutely NOT GIVE them anything with sugar. When I got my first dog 10 years ago, the first thing I looked up was - what a wolf eats in the nature. (a dog and wolfs metabolism is 95-98 % similar to each other) And that is at least 60 % meat, berries, and herbs. So with grass fed animal meat (60%) in the base of their food, I also want it to contain berries, herbs plus root crops. My dogs is so healthy and have never gain extra weight. We have now a dog (we only get our dogs from shelters) and he is very allergic to pollen. The vet gave him vet-food and he became sooo much sicker. So I decided to only feed him with grass fed lamb, berries, herbs, root crops - he is now a healthy dog. When the pollen is at the highest level in Sweden from the spring to autumn we must give him a low % of one sort of medicine. The vet think he needs to eat that medicine all year around, but we follow his pattern: when the first sign of that he starts to itch him self. So I always try the learn people around me, that we human cant only eat healthy - our pets need it just like us. Cat´s needs no lower than 90% meat based food with high % of amino acids. Then the food must contain: trace, minerals, essential fatty acids, vitamins - but not C and K ( cats form their own vitamin C and K from their intestinal bacteria) Cats don´t have an need for carbohydrates, that doesn´t mean that cats dosn´t like it. Many cats eat vegetables and other carbohydrate with delight. So we can give that in a small amount as a treat plus a small amount of fibers are good for digestion and a way to regulate the food energy content. Warm hugs to you Eric / Suzanne

Saute onions, salt and pepper liver, move the onions to the side of the pan to make room for the liver. add your choice of oil to the center of the pan. Lay the liver in the oil until you see the bottom of the liver brown and turn until browned. Done. So simple , so good. I had consistency challenges eating liver when I was young, so I cook it to well. But recently cook until medium and it was tender and WONDERFUL! yummalisous

Chicken liver salt, pepper, roll it up in bacon slices, and grill them on skewers, Deeeliiiciossooo! :D Another one of my abs fav liver dish is called "Droba" First you sear chicken liver, or smaller pieces of some other animal liver, take them out. In the same pan, you add slices of onions, roughly diced red, green and yellow bell pepper or other pepper, then you add back the liver, then some pealed tomatoes. or tomato juice, salt, pepper, spices of choice, put a lid on, and let it simmer down for 45min. Yuuummmooooooo I could eat this all day long. One more delicious option is to bake some liver in foil along with some onion, carrot and veggie of choice, add spices, let it cool, add butter and blend it into a pate :) Good luck with new recipes Dr. Berg, you guys always invent the best ones! :D

Nice to see someone other than me like liver. I grew up in Europe so I grew up eating it. I love your recipe suggestions. I will try them this way also. My favorites are Chicken Liver Pate and just Liver sautéed with lots of Onions. Delicious!

A quick moroccan marinade, finely chopped onions, finely chopped parsley, finely chopped sweet bell pepper, cummin, black pepper, olive oil, lots of lemon or lime juice fresh tomatoes, tumeric mix all together add in your meat, or veg mix some more leave to sit for 30mins heat a pan medium to low heat get a nice sizzle should cook in minutes depending how large you have chopped the meat pieces, i like to add baby leaf spinach and green chillis at the end but you can add anything, you can have in a wrap or rice and salad, peace and love to all ✌🏼❤️

Lamu Sherpa first time i ate heart my poo was black because the heart was rich in iron. Heart is a good starter if getting into organs. Liver is gross, still working on recipe, it has a powdery texture, with a slight nutty mushroom flavour.

If you cook kidneys, let them in water with vinegar the night before, then rinse them well. That takes care of any amonia smell.... :) with garlic and onions mmmmm excellent. And the chicken livers, I just fry them in butter with some salt.

Let me share something with you. My dog MoFo was an approximate 5 month old wild stray that walked up to me in the middle of the night at a truck stop, sat down, put his chin on my leg and looked up at me with those eyes. Get the picture? He was very sick and starving, I didn't think he'd make it through the night. I've learned what he likes and don't. For instance, he'll drink fresh rain water from a downspout before he drinks anything else and he turns his nose up at fast foods. He was a staving little feral! I used to think that he was just picky but the little guy (75 lbs) seems to know whats up. He "loves" beef liver from the pressure cooker!! MoFo just seems to know what food is good or not. I think we're going to try the Liverwurst that you suggested in another video. Thanks for the videos! He's 7 years old now and I wont take less than 10 more ... I'm 56. Yes, he's my best friend.

Omg Dr. Berg you read my thoughts. It is so hard to find a good recipe for organ meet that doesn’t have any flipping grains. I feel bad about eating animal parts and the insides when I am a total animal lover and protector. I would think the best way to do it peacefully for me is to make sure the laws only support humane ways to not only raised animals well, but when slaughtered they are killed fast and minimize suffering. They didn’t do anything wrong. That way the animal had a happy quality life. Why is is so hard to do? I don’t get it. Nobody speaks about this, and I think is a big deal.

It's been said that people who eat sausage (organic) on a regular basis are healthier than those who actually eat the meat. And the reason for this is because all the organ meats and crap is ground up in the sausage.

Hi Dr Berg. I love beef liver... i cook it like this. Saute some minced garlic, ginger, sliced onions in cooking oil.. throw in some cinnamon bark, star anise, some cloves & cardamom while ur at it. Add blended fresh green chillies. Lots. Add blended fresh tomatoes. Lots. Throw in your cubed liver. Add yoghurt. And parsley. Some salt. Dont overcook the deliver, it can get tough. This recipe is simple & Delicious!!! The green chillies & tomatoes take away the liver smell. Its one of my favorite things to eat. Still the medical report says I am lacking in iron. And anemic. Huhu. Anyway, I feel great. Haha 😁

An afterthought, when I was a kid there was little pet food on the market, but buying organ meats are still cheap, I believe, so make your own pet food. Pets way back then lived on table scraps…much better for them! I bought half kilo or about one pound of chicken livers with the heats for. $1.25. Hope this helps someone.

As long as its from a quality source, you can have it every day if you want, just make sure you also get in other meats and fish in your diet too to give you other vitamins and minerals.

Plenty of people use non grass fed meat.. Besides, a lot of the meat that is labeled grass fed, is sometimes finished with grains just before slaughter.. Also, how do we know what grass the cows are eating? It could be a pasture right next to a polluted highway.

I got a yammer recipe for your liver meat... Marinate liver slices with ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, salt, pepper and if you want you can add some coriander seed powder and cumin seed powder for 10 minutes... Followed by heating up the pan with two tablespoons of olive oil/ butter and fry them till they become semi-crispy...you can also add some garam masala ( Made from grinding cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and star anise)... You can freeze these pieces and mix with salads or you can also eat dry...You can substitute or avoid if you don't like any of the above ingredients........ I don't think I added any carbs to this so it will come as low carb high fat with low glycaemic index...all the spices used have some medical values......so good to go with it...

@mohammed al khozai It says in the description that his doctorate degree is in chiropractry. So maybe the nutrition is a personal interest. Which is fine! You don't have to have a degree in that particular info to still do the research and know your stuff! Besides, the body is a whole, not separate parts. I still think he rocks and am 100% on board! Go Dr. Berg! Right now I am eating lamb for the first time.. Well I tried it once before and hated it, but I'm trying it again many years later. This time, it's good! I made a cauliflower-rutabaga curry soup with bone broth, garlic, onion, ginger, turmeric, and Elena's turmeric sauce. Then I pureed a portion of it. Then I made meatballs out of lamb, onion, coriander, cumin, allspice, thyme, salt, peper and 1/2 egg. It's delicious!! and I'm so proud of myself! Liver here I come!! I found this video because I was searching for information on the probiotic benefits like increased biodiversity or reduced inflammation or varied bacteria or something, as a result of eating different meats, varying it up instead of always eating chicken, beef or pork. Do you know? It was awesome to learn about organ meats and I'm gaining the courage to buy it from grasslandbeef! But I am also hoping to learn about just eating different meats in general. I'm an ex-vegetarian (15 years vegetarian!) and now I"m a meat eater on the GAPS diet (keto, too). It only just occured to me recently that my body still might be recovering from all that time being vegetarian, and that maybe 4-5oz of meat isn't sufficient for me to do that recovery. So I'm increasng my awareness of the benefits of meats, and trying to have meat at more breakfasts and lunches, not just dinner. Dr. Eric do you know anything about recovering from vegetarianism? I have been looking for that information too, (I do know about Dr. Natasha's book on vegetarianism, maybe she would talk about it) but in general I have not had much luck! Anyway. Thanks for the video. The more I hear about liver, the more confident I feel. Liverwurst here I come!! There's one on the grassland site that just has marjoram, allspice, coriander, onions, garlic, liver and beef. I'm avoiding nightshades, cinnamon and lemon etc. so it's hard to find premade sausages that work with my allergies.
