Күн бұрынDo you need to know how to organize your fabric scraps? Organizing fabric scraps can feel like a scary endeavor. Maybe you've accumulated a closet full of fabric offcuts that you don't know what to do with. Well in this video I organize my fabric scraps and show you the whole process from start to finish. Having an organized sewing space is very important to me and it honestly goes such a long way. Now that the fabric in my sewing room is organized, I have so many sewing projects that I'm excited to start sewing. If you organize your fabric and come up with any good scrap busting projects, I would love to know!

Do you have a fabric offcuts pile too? It can be a bit intimidating to sort through, but I found the process so rewarding and I’d highly recommend doing it 🙌🥳

Would love to see a video about how you plan to use up your scraps! I think that Carhartt material would look cool as an apron or a bag/fanny pack. Not sure if any of your scrap material would be good for hand towels or un-paper towels too. Those would be easy to whip up! I want to take my scraps and patch work them together and use some embroidery to make a cover for a sewing journal. I just learned how to sew though, so I have some more scraps to build up, haha!

Oooh yes the Carhartt would make a super nice apron or Fanny pack! I hadn’t thought of that 🙌 I’ve also made unpaper towels before out of cotton flannel and they’re awesome so I’d highly recommend that as well. Congrats on starting your sewing journey!! If I could start over, I would definitely organize my scraps as I go so that I didn’t wake up one day being overwhelmed by the pile hahaha

I love all the organization and brainstorming! I definitely need help with scrap busting projects specifically with my knit fabrics. I’ve been thinking of tank tops/ cozy sports bras (think the popular Calvin Klein ones) and matching underwear. If the pieces are large enough, I want to try making boxer briefs for my boyfriend too. However, sometimes it’s good to go through the stash and send some fabric to someone who will use it ❤

Ooh hell yes to cute matching undie sets!! I’ve attempted underwear once, but I don’t think I used the right fabric so it didn’t go well hahaha have you made undergarments before?

I’ve been making bias binding from small printed scraps (1/2 yard or a smaller square shape scrap works best for this)! I also use small cotton prints for pocket bags!

You could use the square silk scarves as gift wrapping. The Japanese have a technique called ‘Furoshiki’ that is perfect for these! Edit: I recently saw a project where they keep all of their little fabric pieces and put it in a handmade pouf as the filling. Maybe that’s an option?

Ahh yes, Furoshiki is a great idea! I’ve used that technique in the past and love it! The scarves would make such beautiful gift wrap as well 🤩 I’ve also made a pouf and it was fuuull to the brim and very heavy with scraps haha I don’t have a function for it, so I don’t think I’ll make another, but that is a super fun way to use up scraps 🙌

That’s a great idea! I’d love to see if I can learn to style a structured corset to work into my personal style. Maybe a denim corset would help it feel more wearable and approachable to style 🤔
