Volkswagen Kübelwagen Type 82 1943 Walk-Around. Genuine original Volkswagen Kübelwagen of 1942 Typ 82 Tropen (Tropical) Funkwagen (Radio car) coded "Fu", which received a new bodywork and larger engine (1134 cc) in 1943 in Wolfsburg (KdF Factory in Germany) after returning from North Africa with mine damage on the front suspensions -
Redelivered to the Wehrmacht for the Italian front in 1943 still as Funkwagen (Radio car) and remained in Italy till 1945, registered in Switzerland in 1946 and driven till 1963 in Bern area, stored in 1963 till 2000, then undergoing restoration in Marpingen (Sankt Wendl) Germany by Patrick Stoll - back on the road in 2004 till 2009 stored again till 2015 after several electrical problems, and back in service in 2017 (short period & again electrical problems) and now back on the road again (Jan 1st 2020)
To all German Vehicle collectors : please do not make / copy / repeat the mistake of several collectors !!! PLEASE DO NOT PAINT RIMS IN SEVERAL COLORS / NO CAMO PAINT ON RIMS !! as per German Wehrmacht Vorschriften : Genormte Anstrich Vorschriften !! - Painting the rims in several colors was forbidden by the OKW (Oberkommando der Wehrmacht) for all vehicles !
Which is very logical ! Otherwise the vehicle become more visible due to camo paint on the rims in movement. In some pictures grease leaks on the rims may look like camo, and as usual sometimes,
mistakes has been made, even by the Germans !!! So do not repeat it !

My dream car ! I already have a beetle from 1965, but be sure will not leave life before to have one WW2 Kübelwagen !!.........the M1 us helmet on rear floor ( at 4.00 min ) is a war souvenir ? lol many thanks for rims advise to not paint them, remeber to have saw Patrick Stoll in 2004, was in Normandy with a superb WW2 early kubel, so you are lucky to have it, you seems to put all your attenion on it, so just wish "gut Fahrt", and nice ballads on board....and of course many thanks for sharing Budy ; )

@H K Hi friend, sorry but military vehicles are not made to be confortable ; ) , with jeep due to front motor, in cold seasons you have your feet near motor, so good temperature ( only for feet cause it's an open car ). even if I hadn't test these 2 cars during WW2.... : ) this is what I know : For Kübel rapport from U.S army was saying : "O.K not four wheel drive as our jeep, anyway more light than Jeep, so it make the work..." as you can see they are nearly same performances, the case of Schwimmwagen was more funny : US ordonnance test rapport say : "do all the jeep done, but in more it's swim ! " lol ( VW typ 166 schwimwagen was only in 4 wheels drive.. ) wish you the best fellow...thanks for your interest...before to close, a lot of collectors ( I know one ) have one jeep, and one Kubelwagen...find one lucky guy like this, to have more concrete impression between these two iconics cars of WW2.... ; )

I hope that your wish will come true as soon as possible ! The M1 US Helmet is an original dated 1944 It is a gift from a US collector We used it during a History Channel television shooting - the Kübelwagen as captured vehicle by the 45th Infantry Division in France along the Swiss border - so we were wearing during 1 weekend US WW2 uniforms

@@bilplaymo6121 In the Kübelwagen you have the engine cooling air comming along the Carrosserrie up to you feet too - as well as your Beifahrer (= front passenger ) too At both sides of the VW rear engine you have two flats that you can close during winter so that the cooling air (warm) goes to the front of the Kübelwagen - heating system

@H K you've right, anyway sound is very nearly than a classic beetle, on some Kübel, you have a beetle motor directly put by collectors....cause original KDF motor is very limited in power ( 985 cm3 first, and after 1942 or 1943 ? 1131 cm3 ), a stock beetle motor could grow to 1,5 liter...sometimes best solution when you have family, or 4 friends in ballads with you....take care

Dear Flavio, thanks again for your interest We will try to get (that someone is loaning us) 4x original Mauser K98 rifles and maybe 1x replica of a MG34 or MG42 (more hard to find) to show you how they fit in the Kübelwagen - of course we will show you how the 20 l WH Kanister = Jerrycan fits and the WH Verbandkasten (first aid case) too - give us some time to organize - but promised we will make that video

Dear Delta Commando 1944 Yes normally my Kübelwagen can run on Freeways and Highways According Volkswagen top speed is more that 50 miles/ h = 80 km / h But the top speed with original 1143 ccm 3 Engine is for my Kübelwagen 105 km / h = 65 miles /h - The real problem on Highways / Freeways or Main roads are always the other drives - that do not respect distances Old Volkwagens as most veteran cars - need more time as modern cars to brake so if you want to overtake my Kübelwagen --- no problems --- but do not break in front of my car because you have to take an exit - I need at least 2,5 x more distance to brake as a modern car

there is no pleasure to drive a vintage car on freeway, you go there just when must.......let you imagine the size of truck at the side of the Kubel ! take little roads to have a good free ballads.....and please : the stupid question don't exist ; ) take care

Hallo Christian R75 Ich werde bald ein Video posten somit du sehen kannst wie es funktioniert & wo der Schalter bei meine Kübelwagen ist. Blaue Kontrollleuchte = wann Fernlicht ein ist I will post a new Video to show you how the lights work on a Kübelwagen & where you can find the switch for the Notek-lights. Blue indicator light = when Main Beam is on

If one watchs it: the "extrernal/Licence-plate",(ante-1944 )and its "Number"; the dash-board is absolutely-wrong ( it is typical/'1944"). The gas-tank/"beck": it lacs the metal-ring/protection over rubber-gasket. And, in the bideo it does"nt appear the most important-detail: the Engine-Compartment.😊

Thanks for your comments Giulio The number plate is one that what I had in my collection - does not to be 1944 as the Kübelwagen is a 1942 factory rebuild in 1943 The swiss car documents are still indicating 1942 !! How can you say that the external licence plate is ante 1944 ?? What do you mean , as you probably know the Germans had “Anstrichverordnungen“ in which the explained the dimensions of the licence plates Numbers and Letters , Then when the car arrived at his Unit it received it’s final number and license plate was made of iron, aluminum or painted straight on the vehicle ….! Regarding the engine, my son made some other video regarding it Have a great day

@@carlt8115 When the engine cover/lid it has the left-ribs, interrupted to allocate the licence/Plate: it happened in beginning'44 (also for the dashboard) but of-course there where a lot of "overlappings" about some changing/components.
