I always used Nobz, even when they werent good just because they're a centerpiece of an Ork Waaagh! Just 10 of the Bosses biggest bullies is a cool sight to have around your Warboss

I've been using five Nobz with power klaws as Trukk Boyz for a long time. Throw them at something scary and watch those Nobz trade suuuuper well

At this point save this set of stats for the nobs somewhere and keep it written down and when they are turned to trash by GW ignore what they say and play the old version. Most opponents understand for the sake of using fun units and reasonable conversation that if you can make a point to them it’s fine. It’s just sad it’s come to this

They are what I would have wanted Company Vets to be, before seeing them at the literal bottom of the barrel of the marine update. Btw I'm talking about internal balance, I know SMs certainly don't another good unit atm

Marines as a whole (the way GW has said they are looking at them), no. But, as usual, certain Chapters are floundering. The irony is that as long as those Chapters are seeing play in reasonable numbers without getting better, they drag down the overall win rate for Marines, potentially causing them to be viewed as at or below the target win rate of 50-55%.

@@135forte agreed, although iirc GW themselves showed marine's tournament performances by chapter, didn't they? If it was the case I think they have the means to know what to fine-tune (but admittedly GW is rather prone to balance screw-ups)

I really wish the big choppa was -2ap like you said heh. It would have made alot more sense. With normal choppa at -1, big at -2, and Uge at -3.

Tbh it's been working just fine for me at AP -1 they have so many attacks at high strength they absolutely shred infantry units especially when you have a warboss or waaagh banner nearby.

@@josephrigley8974 Something to keep in mind is that , when using PKs or Killsaws, the Warboss and WAAAGH Banner buffs *stack,* which makes them hit on 2+.

UK friends - Nobz are one of the cheapest Elites choices in the game on eBay and will frequently go for 15 GBP or thereabouts, even when new on sprue

For almost the same price as two Nobz kits, you could get the AoS Orruk Ardboys kit of 15 models, and either kitbash on some klaws/saws, or run them with their melee weapons as double choppa or choppa/big choppa

I bought that kit back when they were called "Black Orcs" intending to use them as 'Ardboyz back when those were a thing only to realize that Black Orcs are nob sized. They do wonderfully as Nobz and their helmets look very nice on Meganobz.

Boss Nobs don't have extra attacks. They have more attacks than the boyz, but in nobz and meganobz the unit leader doesn't get any benefits.

Orks die in droves. The ones with the strength and cunning to survive should be a decent cut above the baseline. As someone that ran the green skins for a long time in both fantasy and 40k I like seeing them do well.

Sadly big choppa isn’t ap-2 like you mentioned it’s ap-1. It’s just bonus strength modifier. That said my friend and I are convinced the original 9e ork preview from gw had big choppas at ap-2 and they retconned it to ap-1 for the codex

My triumphant return to the tabletop after 20 years was against a Goff pressure list. I never got out of my deployment zone that game. I had no idea the buggers could move all the way across the board in one turn. It's friggin ridiculous.

That sample Goffs list from Da Bolton Waaagh! brings me joy, as does the fact that Nobz are actually good. (Now if only I'd built mine as pure melee instead of a mix based on what was actually in the kit...)

I would put Nob mobz in trukk for first turn to move closer, then maybe call WAAAAGH! second turn and not even upgrade them to Trukkboyz because that would loose the klan rules. Also might be tempted to take few nobz with kombi-rokkitz.

Yeah if you're playing goffs especially it's not worth losing klan rules for trukk boyz if you're running them melee. I am tempted by the idea of kombi-rokkit trukk boyz nobz though. They're 6ppm more expensive than tankbustas but for that you get an extra wound, extra strength, and an option for a shoota, as well as better target flexibility since the +1 for being in the trukk applies to everything, not just vs vehicles. You also get the free ammo runts that can give you full rerolls to hit on that unit for a turn. You don't really miss out too much on bomb squigs since you can get those with squighog boyz, and whilst the tankhammer is theoretically good it's swingy and tied to a unit that very much does not want to be in melee. Also the math works out that trukk boyz rokkit nobz with an ammo runt reroll outperform boom boyz tankbustas vs vehicles.

ive been running 30 nobs with klaws and choppa as deathskulls. when you take a mega boss aswell as a waaagh banner you can get those klaws hitting on 2+ and they kill just about anything they touch, have a weidboy cast warpath on them. during the waaagh thats 50 klaw attacks and 10 choppa attacks with warpath, 1 free re roll, and then they are all obec and have a 5+++ against mortal wounds and they ride in wagons

I have mine with big choppa and choppa. Still 2 damage but choppa gives one extra attack. 30 big choppa attacks and 10 choppa attacks regular and 40 big choppa attacks plus 10 choppa attacks in the waagh.

As for Killsaws, it isn't hard to fashion some from the big choppas blades. Though you might want to heat up your cutter in a lighter flame for a second or two for cleaner cuts through the plastic.

3x3 kans is the best choise for my speed waaggh. AT Fire 4+, good melee, less points and sometimes fake target and protect buggies as a distraction.

You must take the new AoO detachment, but you are also allowed to add a Patrol Detachment, or a Lord of War Detachment, says so in the Mustering armies. So can you gain a second Specialist mob outta the Patrol detachment you can take in addition?

Orks can't use the battle brothers rule to include an allied patrol or super heavy aux detachment as they aren't listed in the battle brothers section(since they can't ally any other factions)

The beast snagga boys are almost as big as the nobs in the kit.... if not as big. If you use the heads and arms from the nobs kit on the beast snaggas it looks anatomically correct.

Klaw (or Saw) and extra Choppa is CLASSIC Warboss combo and I will endorse it. TBH I think Klaw is good enough because it give extra reliability (D3 damage never sits right with me), even at slightly reduced AP.

These sound good! On the other hand, I've always personally been more of a fan of Meganobz, since I prefer my 2+ Sv when it's available. Since you didn't go over it as an upgrade, I'm guessing they are still sort of a separate unit choice, which might mean more expensive models, slightly different rules, and different kit options, but how do Meganobz compare to this? Is the MegaArmour worth it for them, and the Warbosses they hope to someday suprass?

Meganobz are very good and I would not go to war without them. Ordinary Nobz are good for the amount of models you get for the points, but a Meganob at 30p is not bad, 2+ save and a extra wound let them stay around i bit longer, and they are good as a second wave departing from a Battlewagon.

I use both, with Nobz as Trukk Boyz and Meganobz as foot sloggers. Trukk Boy Nobz are a nuke, meant to kill something nasty on the other side of the board, like a Leman Russ, and then die. Meganobz are tough, meant to hold down objectives, soak up damage, and kill anything that gets close. Meganobz do get the hit em harder strat, which gives them +1 damage. Makes killsaws D3+1, which is just phenomenal. Three Meganobz with double killsaws and the strat can kill a nemesis dreadknight.

Good unit, and a cheap kit with absolutely tons of bits. Bash em up with whatever Ork bodies you want to make even more nobz. I tried out a Big Choppa/skotcha squad in Boarding Actions and they absolutely abused the marines I was against.

While I have been running a ‘Funny’ Unit TRANSPORT Battle Wagon with Ard Case and deff rolla - 135 6 Mega Nobz -180 warboss mega Armour- Ard az Nail and HeadWoppa KillChoppa -115 5 x Kommandoz - 60 ( who take the brunt of exploding Battlewagons + are great for taking objectives in cover or fighting near terrain) But with Cheaper Nobz …. Purhaps replacing all the Mega Nobz with 180 points cheep Nobz or Having a MSU Mega Nob unit and 90 points of regular Nobz….might be a good idea….

If you find yourself needing to kill stuff better, fitting more Nob bodies in will do the job. Personally I run Nobz as Trukk Boyz to nuke something and Meganobz as objective holders. If you're charging your battlewagon down the middle and then popping all your infantry out to hold it, I'd stick with Meganobz

Speed Freeks AOR doesn't exist any more. Run it as Freebootaz. Wazbom Dakkajet or a deep striking unit of Deffkoptas are amazing for guaranteeing +1 to hit, which is all you need for all those heavy guns to hit their targets. Ignore speedwaaaagh entirely. Use Waaaagh for the extra resistance, and pray to God your opponent doesn't ask for the legality on that decision because the wording has been poor forever. *Edit: You can take advantage of the lack of AOR to run nonstandard speed freeks units. A Mek can really make that army pop when you need it to

Deffkoptas are great in any Ork army, they're just awesome. Movement, shooting, melee, they've got it all. Surprisingly durable with ramshackle and four wounds, don't get popped immediately by railguns... Get Deffkoptas

There are four big choppas in a box. You'll have plenty of compatible spare klaws if you built horde boyz at any point in the past, but folks who went MSU with them may struggle a bit. Kombi-weapons are a trap, so the number of them is irrelevant. The thing you're actually tightest on are the offhand choppas, but there are five arms them and plenty of slung bits for any big choppa boyz that are holding them in two-handed grips. 7:35 The boss nob has the exact same profile as the rest of the unit, no extra attack or even leadership. These are still glass hammers, but at least they're cheaper glass hammers now. The newfound power of marine armies will have even more people reaching for efficient D2 weapons, and nobs evaporate to that kind if attack.

In older books you could mix Kombi with any one handed weapons (so, Choppa or Klaw), on ANY Nob anywhere (yes, Rokkit/Klaw Stormboy Nobz were a thing). If You are into recasting (those chunky bodies are easy to multiply), then Kombi Weapons make AWESOME base for Flash Gits.

I've had 1 AoO game and I used 8 trukk nobs, 4 klaw 4 big choppa and killed an mini knight in 1 turn. Do recommend!!

They're good in a trukk thrown forward to delete a unit but they're so soft they tend to die right after so you better pick a good target for them to hit.

I've been doing exactly that for a long time. They can trade phenomenally well, and they've been so underrated for so long that people don't screen them out well. They think their Leman Russ or their Doomsday Ark or Gunship is safe on the other side of the board, AND... It's gone. Deleted with muscles and can openers

The only issue with the video is the list presented is for Nihilim. It doesn't work with Arks now - HQ wise anyway. Otherwise it does.

Oh yeah, Nobz die real good. But if they're Trukk Boyz, they're advancing and charging out of a moved Trukk, so they're getting all the way to your backline and hitting something very, very hard. They'll die immediately as soon as you swing back, but whatever they're hitting is going to get deleted

"Very strong" is a.. strong word. They have gone from being bad to being decent. They are not "Very strong". The big choppa is still only a -1AP weapon, and the loss of the secondary, "biggest and da best", means the secondary "Greentide" is used more often now. Nobz dont work well with "Greentide". If you want to go for a powerklaw you still pay 22 points for a model that dies to a stiff breeze. Furthermore they still need a transport because they only have move 5 and no real defense. They are 17 points per model with big choppas, and while they will kill any space marine equivilent in melee if they fight first, they will also DIE to any given space marine model that fires upon them at a distance. A distance, that can be difficult to gap with cheaper space marines that now has more firepower and more models. Making even a trukkboy Nob squad a bit difficult. Nobz are in a decent spot with arks of Omen, making the playable competitively, but they are not amazing. They should have had a point reduction in points on their base model, not only the weapons upgrades.

Don't sleep on Trukk Boyz. People seriously underestimate how much range they have and how much damage even five Nobz with power klaws can do. And even if they do screen their backline, you can keep the Trukk behind terrain and force them to keep their screens in place all game instead of doing actions or sitting on points. It's a back pocket nuke that trades incredibly efficiently. I've killed Leman Russes, Nemesis Dreadknights, whole Crisis Suit squads, Hive Tyrants, etc. with Trukk Boy Nobz. A whole lot of S10 AP3 D2 attacks will kill just about anything that's not wound capped. Yeah, they're bad into basic Marines, but that's not what they're for. They're for taking out backline vehicles or nasty characters

How would their points change if their toughness was lowered in favor of more wounds?! In 10th edition I'd like to see a lot more T3 and even T2 troops, instead of removing the toughness check altogether. I'd balance a few types of fodder troops differently. Guard will have the cheapest T2 (conscripts) mirrored by various cultists, while orks will have more wounds. 'Nids would rely on easy psychic powers that regenerate or give fnp. With AP and their bonuses a bit limited, you'd have more variation in units, with armor actually having meaning and those with low or no armor cheap but vulnerable. A bonus like combat doctrine would only be given to half range, possibly allowing multiple doctrines to be active. For this reason I'd remove all possible AP from flamer and frag weapons, and compensate in price or strength. A 6 0 1 profile would be ideal to kill the weakest type of T2 fodder. With a few more S9 weapons and a rule of auto wound on S at least 3*T you would save some rolling. While a lascannon would go to -4 at half range, a 9 -2 D6 rocket wouldn't but could be the perfect poor man's alternative. For multimelta I'd like to actually have multiple shots, the profile of a fragcannon would be ideal 7 -2 2 at long range, 9 -3 3, or -4 with bonus. Instead of removing the toughness step, I'd like to see it reversed and rolled by the defender. The attacker instead sometimes gets an optional precision roll, 1++ (auto succeed by default) , 2++ if a 5++ or 6++ invul and 3++ if 3++ or 4++. This is then modified by 1-2 for light/full cover. An effect normally triggered on a wound roll of 6 is moved here, like sniping. If no cover, invul or sniping this roll can be skipped. This means invuls now do not lessen the value of actual armor nor of AP. This would also mean a lot for fodder armies like orks, where want to use movement and cover effectively to pwn in melee.

They still haven't got their Cybork Bodies back yet. -_- BTW, you can't actually double up Killsaws. The text is just a copy-paste from Mega Nobz. If you read the wargear options, there's no way to take two Killsaws. You could theoretically take a Killsaw and a Power Klaw, though that would be pretty pointless.

"Any number of models can each have their slugga and choppa replaced with two of the following: 1 big choppa; 1 choppa; 1 killsaw; 1 power klaw; 1 power stabba; 1 slugga" pretty clear to me you can take two killsaws, wording is a bit janky though as it's saying 1 per weapon, so for instance you can replace the slugga with a killsaw, and the choppa with a killsaw, each counting as 1 killsaw. Both battlescribe and battleforge allow you to build them this way without error.

i was wrong truckboyz them :D never make them truckboyz, they cannot charge when the truck has moved before they disembark ! Rules FAQ page 8 is about " Remaining Stationary" but the last part hits truckboyz i think : 7. Even if a Transport model is subject to such a rule, embarked models still cannot disembark from that Transport during the Movement phase if that Transport has already moved, unless that Transport (or the models embarked within it) have a rule that explicitly allows them to disembark after the Transport has moved (but if a unit does so, it cannot then charge during the same turn). Please correct me if i am wrong, i would love to charge :)

Trukk Boyz is not a remain stationary rule, but a rule the explicitly allows them to disembark after the transport has moved. None of the bullet points under remain stationary apply. It's been played this way since the codex came out and nothing has changed, Trukk Boyz are a tournament staple.

i used them and charged them until i was told i am using them wrong cause of : The rule is about "remaining stationary" and that they CANNOT disembark when the transport has moved. The next part is "unless that Transport (or the models embarked within it) have a rule that explicitly allows them to disembark after the Transport has moved" which is the truckboy rule. And it ends on "(but if a unit does so, it cannot then charge during the same turn)." You say this rule has no effect on truckboyz, because the truckboyz do not have "remaining stationary" He said the secound part targets the "disembark after move" directly cause the "remaining stationary" rule does NOT allow them to disembark after move, so it has to target the "disembark after move" direct. HELP :D

Big choppas used to cost points, they're now free. Power klaws used to be 8ps, now they're five. Quite nice on a unit that was seeing some play before (they featured in the Orks list that took 2nd place in the LVO)

But... what makes them better than their previous iteration? You could always run them in a transport or alongside a warboss, that's nothing new. So why do they suddenly matter now? Would rather they just gave boyz another points cost drop honestly, there's nothing wrong with them being general purpose infantry given how slow orks on foot are.

I think having double killsaws actually gives you 2 extra attack not just one because it says "if it is equipped with 2 killsaws, it makes 1 additional attack with this weapon" which I think applies to each killsaw

@@alexmacdonald257 10 points more gets you a chaos rhino with a melta gun and havoc launcher at bs3. It's more of 70 points for something that can only move block as its utility after it has deposited its cargo. Being open topped for a BS5 army isnt exactly a great selling point. If they gave it a close combat profile with ap 2 with a ws 3+, we would be onto something morky, possibly gorky. Back in 5th they were 35 points and the game is more hostile to them then back then.

Don't like nobs, they are still not powerful enough to warrant the points for more than one unit. Their save is awful also. Better off with other infantry.
