Want to know how to apply the Orton effect? Or What the Orton effect does? In this week's video tutorial I show how I add that dreamy, filmic glow to my images using the Orton effect in Photoshop. I also how how using masks can let you fine tune exactly how you want the effect to look in your shots to have even more control over the final result.

Thanks Andrew, another really informative video! Nice example of how to selectively apply with the layer mask. A luminosity mask is another good way to restrict this to the highlights. I always hear about this effect for landscapes but, have you tried this with macros? I could see this possibly working with flowers where the center is sharp but the petals are softened with the OE glow. Looking forward to trying this out! Cheers.
