3rd Greatest indian movie of all time.. 2013

It is an entertaining film, but the storyline is the same as the Akshay Vidya Bollywood one. The hindi one is an exact copy of this as regards story and even dialogues. But the actors in Malayalam make all the difference. Bwood one was very campy and ott. Malayalam one having the same storyline and jokes and dialogues doesn't feel like the bwood one cos of the actors. It feels more real and original.

The hindi version couldn't come the level of original movie. Shobhana has been the best. Tamil version had a crazy woman dancing with Rajnikanth. Hindi version had not so talented dancer, not trained in classical dance Vidya balan. Shobhana with her dance skills, acting skills surpassed a great level in her own standard. Vidya n that tamil crazy dancing women can never be compared to Shobhana.

Johnson's haunting BGM was a key factor in imprinting this movie inside every Malayali's heart. And you can also add Nedumudi Venu's brooding tragic expressions, Bichu Thirumala and Vaali's lyrics, MG Radhakrishnan's composition, Pappu's stupidity and of course Sudheesh's "kindi" :P

The palace is near my mom's village and most of the "haunted house" in the movie is shot there. It's surreal to see all the places and the shots from the movie just come to your mind.

Whatever others' opinions are, I think Malayalam dared to give importance to characters irrespective of gender giving justice to script while filming though majority of the scripts are male centric which is natural for all languages. But heroes step back behind heroins if the script demands is the quality of whole malayalam industry. This began to see in other languages very recently.

Not just mohanlal, thilakan too had some over the top dialogues.. The credit should go to Fazil, i guess. This must be his contribution. Almost all of his films have this overdramatic/over the top dialogues

Well, both of them are classically trained in dance. And for a role like this, that really helps in bringing out expressions in your eyes.

Yes agreed, as I audien of her performances in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, hindi n Malayalam, I can say that SOUNDARYA was an outstanding performer, a great actress unarguably, if she was directed by a great director like Fazil who knew what he was making (regarding Manichithrathazhu) unlike vasu or Priyadarshan ( who concentrated on heroism), Her performance undoubtedly would be on another level for sure..!!
