I was given a small Eindecker that was nicely built but never flown. The builder never quite finished it. No tank it servo tray. It did come with an engine. It has an OS 26 four stroke that looks like it has never run. I have it finished now and am looking forward to getting it in the air. I'm planning on break in time on the ground. It's too nice of an aging to take the chance that someone else did the break in. Piston is clean and so is the exhaust system. I remembered seeing you run the same engine so went looking for that video. Thanks for posting your build and engine run videos.

I just dug up this very same engine in my old stash. Bought it back around 1991, never in the air. Very curious to see if I can get it running.

Nice engine and vidéo. The crankcase is not taller, it's actually the same as the FS20, except for die cast markings. But the flange of the liner is thicker to accommodate the longer stroke, hence the gap between cylinder and cylinder head.

Mark, Love watching what you are up to and wishing I was as methodical as you are. I have a question I would like to ask. I have recently become a collector of engines and I was wondering what you may have found to use for cleaning older engines without ruining the finish? I am also interested in where you find the nose gear like the one you used on the Das Ugly Stick. I also built it after seeing your videos. My first scratch build ever and second plane build after suffering from a stroke early last year.

Hi Rick, thanks for the comment, good to hear from you. If my engines are really mucky I clean them in an ultrasonic cleaner, using a product called SeaClean2, which is available in the UK, but not sure about elsewhere in the world. As you suggest you do have to be carfull, think some of the carb cleaners are probably very good, but always good to test first. Also use a toothbrush and soap! To clean between the head fins I use a credit card and some very fine wet&dry! Regarding the nose gear, I bought it from a supplier in Bangkok when I was living over there, not seen one now I am back in the UK. I could always send you the link, but I am guessing it would not be particurally practical to order if not i the country.

Great little engine Mark, lots of power and a smooth idle. Not much effort in staring.

Mini Rc are a really good source of balsa in BKK, or ABC Flying

a great engine copied by sc and magnum but without the quality, the fs 20 is just as good and gives an extraordinary plopping sound on tickover
