Lots of questions/comments around insulation, plumbing and wiring etc. We did cover in previous video but all walls and ceilings will have a battened service cavity all insulation will be fitted from the outside. Only remaining wall to insulate is the ‘party’ wall which will be done at the same time the chassis are split and moved. All other internal walls have full full insulation. 👌

Good saw that Bosch, I just bought my second mitre saw, the DeWalt 774 for £160, good understudy to my Makita 1219 40 kg beast! 240v all day long, if you can carry a lightweight 10 kg saw you can carry a 1 kg extension, then set yourself up for the day. Great work Tim, all moving at a decent pace, you haven't dropped a conker yet!

Packaging is an absolute art. I used to work at a printers in the planning department. We had a guy there who was a sample maker. Most of the stuff we did there was high-end perfume, and it was his job to make sample boxes in different weight paper, etc. It's a real skill.

Thinking back a few years approx(40ish). Me and my late dad split a bedroom for the boys.Framing plasterboard and the like. It took us 2 full days. We used claw hammers, terrier nails and hand saws. We were sore for days after it. Watchin you with the nail gun and mitre saws and stuff makes me realise how different things are today. 72 now and can barely lift a hammer above waist height. Enjoy watchin your vids today good luck with the rest of the build.

Tim, Greetings from Somerset. I view all you do and although not a great "commenter" I had to voice my opinion of Bosch.... All great gear and good on 'em for going cardboard packing. I was recently very disappointed when my Makita Mitre Saw arrived with a big set of polystyrene packing BUT I am a Makita freak so although this happened I am "keeping the faith" . None of my Makita tools have ever let me down (or Bosch grinders) . My son receives my "replaced tools" which look and perform like new. I must comment on your Tractor and now the handler.. In my time they would have been a game changer (Lordy, the lifting I had to do) as they are obviously a wise choice for you guys.. The right size and power for your needs.... But, I am sure like me you wish you had them sooner. It all does Oscar good also. Bob (Weston super Mare)

Certainly helps to have some bigger tools now. All possible by hand but when it's just the two of us most of the time, the hours we have saved (and energy) is priceless! I think most tools nowadays are pretty impressive in power and quality, just end up sticking with whatever batteries you have most of. 😂

That is a hell of a lot of studwork, I have put up two story timber framed houses with less! Watching you makes me think, why am I retired, I could be doing stuff like that. then seeing all the humping of stuff around, change to, glad I am retired and do not have to do that. Just a thought, although you have probably covered this in a previous video, why are you building it there and then moving it, not building it where it will finally reside. Double handling.

Tim, I noticed you did not insulate the centre wall - any reason for this?
@C4sp3r123

It is a double wall, one on each chassis. So when the chassis are moved for citing the insulation would just fall out as one side of each wall will remain open until they have access to it once they move the chassis. They will then insulate at that stage.

Any particular reason you went for OSB on the inside? It's more usual to have weather/water-resistant OSB on the outside (which provides your lateral strength) and plasterboard on the inside. Do the outside first, followed by the roof so you're watertight before starting on the insides.
@TheRestorationCouple
@TheRestorationCouple 2 жыл бұрын
We did cover in a previous video but we switched to osb internal and woodfibre boards externally. Osb will provide the internal air tightness layer avoiding need for membranes, this will be battened to create service void. This is a ‘mock-up’ of a system we are thinking of using on the big house build, however that will be built in closed panels off site.

@@TheRestorationCouple I respect your decision but vapour will pass straight through osb, also osb is clearly not airtight as all you have done is nail it every 20cm. You will also have a huge energy loss where the internal wall meets the external wall. I get that older houses didn't have all this stuff but they did have huge ventilation in the form of chimneys. I hope it works but a family of five plus dog does produce a lot of moisture!
