I started smiling as soon as I watched boromir's scene and I had the same smile until the end. The sole existance of this video is why I want to start doing something I love as a hobby so when I'm finally old and unable to take care of myself I can remember the good memories and die a happy man. Thank you.

I’m 42 and began playing DnD at 13-14 and have been a lifelong player. I always have been the DM and as life got more complicated I could no longer dedicate the time required to run a great campaign so I began looking into tabletop games. Began with WH40K bc I really liked the R-rated Star Wars idea I thought it was. Through that I discovered middle earth sbg over the last two years. All of that to say that your videos have been informative, enjoyable, and really easy for a newcomer to ME sbg to follow. You even have gotten me into creating my own gaming boards and terrain pieces. You Australian, New Zealand guys are doing great work and have the upmost appreciation of a 28 year fantasy gaming vet. Really wish you guys would move to Louisiana. I need people to play with and to teach me how to play tournament style. Anyways thanks for all your hard work and the time dedicate to entertaining us all.

I'vgot my head around most of it, but any chance you could expand on the painting you do after texture paint and undercoating. I see what I think is a wash and a white drybrush??? Also for the borders around the arches are you cutting small blocks from off-cuts and just gluing them around the windows etc? Thanks!

@Zorpazorp
@Zorpazorp 5 жыл бұрын
Hey dude!! Thanks glad you like them :) I actually do a little bit of both early on in all of the big sections in the middle of the river and a lot of the buildings on the riverbank side as well I left the paper on but later on I was using a different foam board where the paper peeled off really easily and I sort of started experimenting a little bit with playing more with the foam surface and indenting it which was quite good too just make sure that if the paper does peel off your definitely painting it with something else like textured paint before you put an aerosol spray down all the phone will be eaten by the spray propellant.

Never noticed before, but there is a film failure in the first clip from LOTR. Faramir is shown holding a flag with a tree on it, whereas Tolkien was pretty clear that this was a symbol only of the kings of Gondor. IIRC the flag of the stewards was white with no emblem.

Really amazing, thanks for taking us through the process. Couple of questions...The stone work relief, that is just cutting the top layer in the shape of the blocks and squashing into the foam layer. Is that right. Also how do you avoid the foam core exposure at the corner joints. Finally, what process did you use to step out around the windows etc. Is that just a card layer on top of the std foam layer. Cheers
@Zorpazorp
@Zorpazorp 6 жыл бұрын
Stephen Booth hey Stephen thanks for the comment man glad to hear you liked it. You're spot on with the foam sculpting I just cut into the top layer and squish the foam then to create the relief and leave the back half of the foam core board in touch to keep the structural Integrity of the wall. For Corners I just cut the inside join at 45 degrees and but the two sections up against each other and then try and line the stone work pattern up so it roughly matches. For stepping out around windows I have the pattern in initially and then around the window edging I cut all the way through to the second layer pull the whole window frame out and then glue it back in sitting out from the main wall layer. :D

You should be able to get it from any framing shop, even a lot of craft stores sell it. Even Riot Art have it I think but they're pretty pricey, you're better off asking a framing shop if you can but like 10 sheets at once. Might be pricey up front but you'll save in the long run :)

Pretty amazing. What do you use for the arch cuts? I couldn't tell from the time lapse and was curious how to make those type of cuts by hand.
@Zorpazorp

Giovanni Galasso thanks man. I actually just do it up hand. Just take them slow and make sure you've got a sharp scalpel. I might actually make a bit of a more detailed tutorial on Gondorian buildings if enough peeps are interested.

Very inspirational! Looks so easy when you do it ;). Are you eventually going to change the blue table cloth for realistic water effect like resin?
@Zorpazorp
@Zorpazorp 6 жыл бұрын
There actually is a bunch of Resin on the river pieces that meet with the river bank, but that whole tablecloth area is so large it would cost a small fortune to resin all of it and would make the board way less modular. But maybe in the future when I have a bigger permanent display for sure :D

Zorpazorp I think the issue you'll face is that most are designed to be for naval battles, so possibly too bright blue and the waves may not be quite right. But I'm sure in this day and age a suitable one is out there.

Landgraft thanks man I'll check them out. At the moment it's just a $2 table cloth. I could always paint that as well a bit of a darker blue.
