I know that a lot of people consider Aqua being 40+ yo(30yo as Gorou + 16yo as Aqua) but that never made sense to me. They are reincarnated as babies into new bodies, everyone treats them as such(of course later as toddlers, kids, teens) I could never imagine someone mentally maturing in that environment. That's why I really feel the need to praise Aka's writing and Aqua questioning not only his relationship with Ai but also who he is - Gorou in a new body? Hoshino Aqua? Or something in between?

There were absolutely ZERO weird intentions in his relationship with Sarina he did not see her in any way other than a really precious patient, but with Ai, it could be considered a little weird. WEIRD, but not sexualized still. Remember he was first her fan, then her doctor AND her son. He has never ONCE been shown to have sexual intentions or thoughts relating to Ai. People of all ages are fans of celebrities and this is particularly true in Japan, this super fan (not stalker) mentality is taken straight from IRL Japan and isn't something the ANIME is doing. I know you said it's odd when people try to convince you it's not weird, and that's not quite what I'm doing. I understand how other cultures could find it weird depending on how and where they're raised, but there are just a few things that WHILE acceptable that someone could at first find them weird, are not weird in reality. The show has some weird stuff, and up till now, Incest is not one those things. Also to clear things up further for others, he does not have an Oedipus complex, his THREE forms of affectionate relationships with someone who passed confuses his mind. So when Akane portrays all the personality-based qualities that he looks for in a person (ones that Ai herself had) he starts to wonder "if akane portraying these qualities is making me attracted to her, does that mean I might have thought of Ai that way, too?". What we see later on in the episode with Aqua describing how the line between him and his past self is fading, is him coming to terms with the fact that him finding akane or Ai attractive (only at that current age). Was a result of his body going through puberty and that the attraction was not something that always existed. Which is why (this is technically not an integral spoiler) we never see him reflect on his affection towards Ai in the rest of the manga.

Spot on. A lot of people quick to apply the male idol fans stereotype to the doctor. Even the anime repeatedly showed that it was Ruby/Sarina that had been more stereotypical with her behavior to Ai.

As a manga reader, I just wanna say ss2 is gonna be more wild, hyped and better. And I hope Doga Kobo will keep doing good work with the animation and art styles. And also 7:49 Ruby will take more spotlight in the future. She is one of the main characters after all.

You asked for it at the end of the stream and I answer: I would love to see a Heavenly Delusion podcast. This anime is really a good contender for anime of the year. You also mention Blue Lock, but I don´t consider it an anime worth of discussion. There are some animes that just makes someone happy without thinking too much or searching for clues about what would happen next, and Blue Lock enter in this category (at least, for me). About the discussion of Oshi no Ko, I´ll say the same that I wrote on the chat: - Every character of the series was well done developed, except Ruby (but I just overlooked it beacuse she is unaware of a lot of things). Someone mentioned that she will be the focused on season two, so that´s great. - I insist that the reincarnation topic is not really important. Yeah, the premise include a doctor and a girl reincarnated as baby twins of their beloved idol, but the story drives about Aqua´s revenge for his mother´s dead and Ruby´s career as an idol. Even if Aqua remembers about his past life, this is more a device to show that he has more experience and knowledge as a person, compared to the rest of his friends of the same age (this is why he is so intelligent and manipulative, I wouldn´t be surprise if in the future he save a life with his medicine´s knowledge). If the topic of reincarnation is never brought up again in the story, it personally wouldn't hurt my experience to enjoy it at all. - I never saw a complain about the "real age gap" between Aqua and the girls, and I am someone who likes to see comments and opinions of different types of people on social networks. The comparison with Mushoku seems unfair to me since they are different cases: While Rudy (Mushoku) is an adult who takes advantage of his condition as a child to get away with harassing girls and women, Aqua lives his life with normality and values. The girls who fall in love with Aqua are teenagers who were selflessly helped by him (although he says he can use them in the future, this sounds more like he wants to play the manipulator when in reality he never really sought to include them as part of his plan from the beginning). Is it okay for him to date any of them? In my opinion, because I understand that there are people who like to dig deeper into the matter, I don't see any problem. - A problem I had with the series was that the hook that drew many people to watch it was Aqua's Revenge, which was slow to develop and focused more on seeing what show business is like. And although there is a lot of exposition about this (and more on the last episodes), the last chapter did not know how to take advantage of it since B Komanchi's dance was relegated in the background while we listened to Kana's thoughts and Aqua stole the show. The right direction would have been showing the dance and sing in its maximum and Kana´s ideas between voids of the songs. Even if this would have consumed time for the episode, easily they could have put the date scene with Aqua and Akane at the start of season two. So, yeah, for me it was a mess at the end that didnt deliver the revenge or the idol aspect in harmony. - Finally, I insist that Hell's Paradise had a more interesting ending to its second season than Oshi no Ko did. I didn't want to bring this up, but Carson's response when he read this seems like a good opportunity to highlight something: At the end of the day, our opinions will always be skewed based on how much we've enjoyed a series from start to finish or the littles aspect it has. Just as Carson and Lindsay didn't like the Hell's Paradise characters, I also didn't enjoy the Jujutsu Kaisen characters (and watching the series again with them on twitch made me appreciate the story more, but not the main characters and especially the protagonist). This is bad? Not at all, and that's why I really appreciate Boldcast and its community in general terms, because they are honest with what a series transmits to them and they really say if they liked it or not without trying to appeal to everyone. This anime is an 8/10 for me, not the best anime of its season and much less a contender for anime of the year, but enjoyable in general. Thanks for the podcast, see you in another one!

I wish you guys would give Mushoku Tensei a try in the future. A lot of aspects that you don't like in typical isekai shows were done brilliantly in MT, and the social anxiety, other problems, and bad sides of the main character just doesn't go away like it's nothing after he was reincarnated. In this show, if the character has some sort of mental illness or depression, it doesn't just go away in a few episodes like in normal anime, that shit stays with you for a long time, and when the character finally changes, it feels more impactful. Besides the strong psychological aspects of the show, it has great world building and balanced power levels, which feels refreshing for an isekai anime. In the beginning, I was also weirded out by the premise, but now I understand why people call MT the "godfather of isekai" or the golden standard for isekai anime.

when it comes to Mushoku Tensei, While rudy and Aqua while they funny enough have the same VA as kids I don't think the scenario is quite the same besides the reincarnation part. Aqua is kind of like this intelligent doctor. WHile rudeus reincarnates from a life of being this shut in bum since the age of 14. His mental maturity isn't that much higher then that of a horny teenager. He never intracted with people for a long time he was basically man child that would make noise for food. He was mentally stunted in most ways rather then a mature doctor. With mushoku the point is more that rudeus is restarting life and experiencing the things he lacked interacting with people, also just girls, growing family finally caring about family things he all neglected in his past life its about rudy trying to find that perfect life he can die with a happy man. Or well not perfect because life isn't perfect and the story makes clear that not everything can go correct, but rudy is aiming for as close as a satisifiying life he can get.

They just don't like isekais . Even though Carson has not watched/read the show , he quickly throws shades to it whenever something degen or reincarnation stuff comes up . And he is basing these opinions on stuff he heard from people that dislike the show . Well I hope they both give it a fair chance and actually try to dissect what it is trying to tell

As a japanese, I'm glad he mentioned cultural difference. Actually western reaction channel to Anime are sometimes weird for us too. Especially the reaction to incest things. We japanese don't feel weird to incest things in anime because it's "completely weird" in real life. We are 100% sure it's not a real thing. We don't feel the need to express "it's weird" cause it's a common sense. I think when westerners watch incest thing in anime they feel the need to express that feeling cause they don't know how it is intended or how it is recieved in japanese culture.
@user-jc6ns3jh3x

And this is just a bold guess but I feel incest complex thing is much bigger in western culture than japanese culture. In western drama, we see jokes about seeing mother as a woman kinda thing, but not in japanese drama. We never have that feeling even as a joke.

It's catering to "online" fans. It's not really about real life fan, since doc and Sabrina aren't really into the online part of it... maybe Sabrina was, but certainly not doc. And the relationship of Aqua and Ruby isn't going anywhere close to traditional happy ending. It was a impossible love, and it still is.

I think that it didn't finish that strong. But even in the manga, for me, it's strong in waves. The first half of this season was really strong, and then it was kinda being mid in the later half, but the will pick up again and then it will go down to mid levels again and then pick back up again, that's my experience with the anime and manga.

To be honest I feel like this kinda stuff is normal. Of course the main plot and banger stuff is there but then it would honestly be a waste of story if you just put all the bangers in one place continuosly. I feel like the story wouldn't be so interesting later on and if all the hype were in one place. The parts where everything is normal is kinda like a break for the reader and author as well as to prepare the next plot or whatever. These little mid sections with little plot elements creates a certain hype towards the next plot in my opinion. I think, if the author did put the banger plots and everything at one place continuosly, the story would have finished in like 100 chapters or smtg. Also there is an extent to the authors creativity. We can't expect him to deliver continuous strong waves. He also needs time to think of a proper story. So in the meantime to keep the fans busy, these little mid sections come. That just shows his passion to create a good story and so far from what I have heard from manga readers, looks like it's going great. I'm really hyped for s2 and what follows
@beige_projection
@beige_projection 11 ай бұрын
@@sidtheepic1103 I agree that it's normal and that it's not necessarily bad. But do not agree that if a story is strong all throughout, it wouldn't be interesting later on as the hype is in one place. I could think of other stories which kept its strengths all throughout until the end. In fact, I think that if the author is able to keep the story's strengths all throughout, instead of waves, it would be better, as some readers, like me, were losing hype during those "mid points" and would take a break from reading it. Again, I'm not trying to put down Oshi No Ko. Just giving an honest review. Most of its parts, I'd say 70% of it were really interesting to me, but some felt like a lull, and those lull moments were in between the strong points, that's why I described it as waves.
@sidtheepic1103
@sidtheepic1103 11 ай бұрын
We'll to be honest in the end it just depends on the author. Anyways I heard some crazy stuff from the manga readers so I'm hyped for s2, and I think those mid sections won't be long when coming to the anime due to how anime episodes are designed based on the manga.

The first episode was ok, but the rest of the season was not good at all. This is easily the most overrated anime of all time, and it’s not even close. Atleast with AOT, jujutsu, CSM and FMAB they are absolute great shows, and they’re deserving for their hype. With oshi no ko, there’s no value in its storyline; it’s hard carried by the animation. People are starting realise that oshi no ko is not a good story at all, especially with the past 30 chapters( the whole manga is not good). If this is what the golden standard for anime looks like I’m extremely worried for the future of this industry. I just hope shows like CSM outshine oshi no ko and show what a good( even a masterpiece) real good show looks like, and not inspiring shows like oshi no ko. I am convinced that targeted audience for oshi no ko have never watched an anime or even a show, and they’ll obviously praise this show because it’s their first, even though there’s tons of better shows that exactly like this and are WAY better. Jujutsu, FMAB, CSM and AOT are genuine masterpieces; a 10/10. Oshi no ko is at best a 5( it’s really a 3 or 4). Go watch anything but season 2 of oshi no ko. The manga isn’t good, so season 2 will be a waste of time just like with season 1.
