I would have stopped watching the show if they had gone with the gimmicky "love story" that we see in almost everything. It wouldnt have worked out at all between the two and I am very glad they never went for it. Their relation was past love ...it was mutual respect and a bonding.

Miller made an excellent contribution to the Lonesome Dove universe in Dead Mans Walk by playing the title character Captain Call, also played by Tommy Lee Jones, Jon Vought, James Gardner, and Karl Urban in other mini series. Not bad company.

Prostitutions being great is mentioned even without any need or reason, just to mention it. Sherlock sounds like a real loser when he proudly drops in every sentence again that he loves Prostitutes. Starting in episode 1. And already in the first episode, the show-makers showed off they believe in the false fact, the made-up truth, that sex is the only way to get peak-performance and that its totally needed. Heck, one level above that nonsense would only be "You die without sex." What utter nonsense. Really sad. A little bit rooted in reality, as Sex can be health-improving, yes, but blown out way out of proportion some times ago - probably by some losers? And heck, some people sleeping with each other are just gross Pairings. Really gross. Heck, even if they just held hends, i would be grossed out in some rare cases. But no, everyone needs Sex or they die or whatever the show-makers believe, so it's constantly talked about. That and sometimes lame puzzles overall make me not appreciate this show.

OSSA I’m not against romance in shows, but I think with Holmes and Watson already have a long established history of being partners (in the original story), I didn’t want to see it become romantic. When this show was being promoted with this male/female team, one of my first thoughts was that they planned to take this down a romantic path and that already was off putting to me. I almost didn’t even watch the show because of this assumption. BUT I thought I’d give the first episode a try and I’m glad I did, I was hooked! I was still dreading the potential romance plot, but as the story went on, I wasn’t getting a romantic vibe between them. It’s great their bond grew stronger, I just didn’t think it was necessary to throw in romance to try and neatly tie up the show by the end. They can have a strong relationship as partners and friends and it doesn’t need to be romantic. Too many shows these days take that route, and I did not tune into this show for that.

It reminded me of the bond between Olivia Benson and Eliot Stable on "Law and Order: SVU". I watched that show because of their relationship. I did want them to get together, because you could see that there was a genuine love between them, but I knew it would change the whole show. I love that Sherlock let Watson know how much she meant to him. As their bond grew it just endeared me to the show even more.

However, Sherlock did seem to get jealous of Watson's sexual relationship with his brother, Mycroft. At one point, he was almost obsessed with the subject, continually asking her if they had had sex with each other. I thought it was insensitive of Watson to become entangled with Mycroft.
