Also, regarding my Mom not using pressure cooker for the meat, she knows it's easier and we have one, but she prefers the old fashion way.

Im not fillipino but love her energy . She seems so loving and motherly , a personality that can make you feel at home . The food looks interesting , it reminds me sort of west african peanut Stew (or groundnuts as they say) . The cusuine of the fillipine reminds me of food from Latin America as well mixed with a South Asian Flare

Mama Lulu, this warmed my heart and made me want to cry. Since I was a child when we moved overseas, I never got the opportunity to have cooking lessons with my Lola as I grew up. I have a passion for food, with karekare as one of my favourite dishes, and I want to connect with my Filipino culture but it’s hindered since I have no one who can teach me traditional Filipino cuisines. This video means so much to me as I can visualise myself as your apo. I would certainly watch more videos like this from you ❤️

I enjoyed watching your videos. Not because it's educational, but Mama Lulu looks exactly like my grandmother. She spent a decade living in California. For me, she was the best cook. From Pochero to Kare2x, she made the best Filipino dishes. She's already in the hands of our maker. We miss her so much. Thanks for posting these videos. Reminds me a lot of my grandmother. It's good to remember.

I am proud of my parents for making a life for themselves in Canada. My siblings, cousins, and I are first generation. Due to our language barriers, our parents never taught us how to make traditional foods (the foods we ate every meal, everyday, since we can remember). Anyway, I wanted to learn how to make kare kare and this really reminded me of cooking with my auntie. I loved this ♡ I mastered adobo and sinigang. Now it's kare kare, bulalao, and pansit next!

I hear that more now, then when I was in school. The kids who had parents that were first gen, they had some hard choices to make. Do I keep my precious children immersed in our native land, or do I let them live like North American kids. Do I have everyone speak our native language, or English? English in school, but the language of our hearts at home? So the kids in my school in the 70s were different, mostly by their parents choice. And TBH, I found they had a hard time in the first grades, but were accepted and became very interesting to us. And they had the traditional meals, where as most kids had candy and juice boxes and typical lunches. But then the younger kids in the 90s, I noticed kids were all eating the same diet. And wearing the latest fashions, and the girls being more North American. And TBH, I didn't appreciate it, as much. Honor ur homeland, ur grandparents, ur customs, and eat the foods u love. North American lifestyle is alot to be desired. ❤️

I love watching Mama LuLu cook! In my household my dad don’t do much of the cooking (he was more of the worker of the family even back when they lived PI) and my mom was “high maintenance” and she didn’t cook (she only learned to cook after meeting my dad here in Hawaii). Also… dishes in my house are limited because my dad can’t eat garlic and onions anymore (dad: when I was young we were so poor everything was onion and garlic and now I can’t eat them), he accidentally ate my pizza pringles one time and he was throwing up🤦🏻‍♀️. Anyway, I’m slowly learning how to cook on my own and your vids are great! I got to be honest some other cooks and their vids I lose interest fast. Besides the cooking, your little stories and explanation for the ingredients and tips and throwing in humor…. Are the best!!

Mama Lulu reminds me of my Lola during my childhood years. She is as good as my Lola at cooking dishes we share with other family members during fiesta, bday parties, and so much more. God bless you, mama Lulu, and may you have a long and happy life for your kids and us, your avid fans! Saludo po ako saiyo.I wish I could hug you.. Anyway, take care and regards!

Hi, new subscriber here. Just want to say I've followed Mama Lulu's style of kare-kare and finally found out that this was the same taste that me and my family are familiar with. The same taste of my mother-in-law's kare-kare! Thanks Mama Lulu, for helping me have my kids remember their palate roots! We are all amazed how I was able to create it! Thank you for making us feel home away from home! Honestly, I am a daughter of a good chef. That's why I never learned how to cook. More recipe Mama Lulu! Luv u and ur whole fam! ❤😍

This is a super duper Kare Kare version 👍 I used to cook in similar way, but one thing different I do now, is tenderise meat ingredients , fall off the bone, put the pot in fridge for 24 hours and scrape the fat on top that solidify on top. 👍.

Thank you for the techniques and explanation. I used to just follow the pkg directions but ended up with leftovers. However, when I tried your mom's way, I was soo satisfied with it, I kept reaching out for more servings. Had to look particularly for this video the 2nd time around for cooking. Keeper!

for me she talks like just one of your barkada, she might look old but her personality can connnect to the younger ones, plus she's so savvy in today's technology like Alexa, she's also very logical, technical and insightful when it comes to her cooking advices, she's not selfish about her experiences in cooking, she has an open mind and respectful about how cooking is different for every person's preference and taste, and depends on the tastes of every mother, and never limits you or imposes that everybody should cook the way she does, and she tells you the varieties of it, and as much as her cooking looks and tastes delicious, her personality is a perfect pair of the dish, masarap na nga kainin ang niluto nya, masarap din kasama ang nagluluto, you can feel her heart that she puts in to her cooking, a perfect ingredient for every cooking, even though I haven't directly eaten her dish basically, those are traits of a good cook to look for. thank you for sharing your cooking, I've ever wanted to learn Kare Kare from a legit and authentic way of cooking it, I'm gonna be your new subscriber kasi alam ko na magaling kayo magluto.

From Toronto Ontario Canada, I just watched your karekare video and enjoyed your Cooking show. Comments lang . I usually cook a couple of ox tails that do not tenderize at the same time so I check and remove the parts that are already tender and continue tenderizing the rest of the meat . That goes the same with the cows feet and tripe. Also, I boil these meats a day before , strain the broth and leave in refrigerator so the fat separates and I do not add this fat to the food. Also, I do not use the broth of the tripe,as I find that it has a smell to it . I use canned banana blossom and never had a bitter one.Try it, you can find them at Seafood City or Chinese Grocery store. Thanks for the blog. Will check out your other recipes. Stay well
